CAI in Houston? good vs. bad

This question is to all H-town G members that have CAI's, either NISMO or Injen: What problems, if any have you all had with a true cai? We live in houston where it rains alot so I'm wondering if it will be a problem to upgrade to a true cai. I was looking to buy the Nismo intake cuz it has that bypass valve. I've tried searching through the forums but there just isn't enough info on the subject. Anyway, all info, pics, experiences and comparisons are appreciated.

thanx

Re: CAI in Houston? good vs. bad

I have the Stillen HiFlow Airbox on mine and love it. I have
seen an Injun CAI in person and can say that the filter sits
around mid-wheel height. You know from living in Houston
that you don't want to drive thru that depth of water. I will
not drive through water that deep for serveral reasons.
1) wheel bearings will need to be re-packed.
2) water can just get deeper and get into the cabin.
3) Water can back into your exhaust and kill your car.
4) on and on and on.
So.. If you don't put yourself in that situation, who cares about the filter being so close to the ground?
Go for it!
The Stillen is the same height as the OEM AirBox and there
are no issues with it.

Hello, what kind of gains have you seen from the Stillen high flow airbox. Also how do you clean the high flow airbox/ Is it simple to clean it>?

Stillen claims 11 HP at 6000 RPM, questionable....
You have to remove the AirBox to clean the K&N cone
filter. I have done it once. I removed the Stillen HiFlow AirBox,
replaced it with the OEM box with a K&N panel drop in filter.
I then cleaned the cone filter according to the way K&N
instructs you to. I let the newly oiled cone filter sit 1 week
in my garage while I checked out the switch to the OEM
Air box. Some state that you loose low end torque and HP
with the Stillen, Injun etc... I don't believe it! After 1 week,
I missed the Stillen so much I put it back on. The Stillen
coupled with the 350Z tube is addicting! I can't live without them.

Re: CAI in Houston? good vs. bad

I second what Cato is saying. Also, I have seen a marked improvement in gas. I was getting 17 before I installed my CAI + Z+tube. Now i get 19-20 depending on how much I WOT it. So you can imagine i get 19 most of the time =).
