Help! Need work in Houston!

Hey gang,

Kyle has offered to post this on the site to help me out since I've done so much for him over the last few years helping him maintain the site and his business.

My father had a major stroke about 5 weeks ago and is currently in TIRR rehab in Houston, TX. I'm relocating blindly to the area to help my family in their time of need. I *REALLY* could use some help with the job market in the area, I'm a IT guy by nature and have a lot of experience in both UNIX (Solaris, Linux, BSD) and in WinNT/2000/2003 (AD, Terminal Server, etc)

If you know anything that could help me out or in the area and looking for a good system administrator please let me know? I'm more than willing to send out my resume if you need it please drop me a line at my email address: john@strangeness.org

Thanks John.

Let me add that I have known John for several years now and he is the only one I trust setting up or working on my servers outside of doing it myself.

A lot of the things he's done as a system admin has simply amazed me, he's good and shouldn't be passed up. Hopefully someone out there can help him out..

Good Luck John!!!!!!!

Kyle

John,

I think I may be one of the only people in this room how HAS BEEN at TIRR. I was taken there after being next door @ Ben Taub for almost two months. The wreck I was in caused me to have brain damage for the rest of my life.

IF you wish for a person to meet-up with you at TIRR on a weekend, please let me know. I will have not problem going there. Also. if you wish to see what my little finder bender was, please look at my website:

My vehicle was a '97 Ford Taurus SHO. There are pictures show below before the wreck.

Send me an e-mail: srhtx@yahoo.com

Take Care!!

Thanks,

Sorry about your wreck, let's just say TIRR is a great place but their nurse techs could seriously use some help. I don't know what time you were there but the nurse techs are not bottom of the barrel in pay and skill. Luckily my sister is there and my mom, but the reason I'm transferring to the area is because he's still paralyzed on his right side, so day to day care is going to be important for a while. He's made a lot of progress but it is still a long way to go.

Thanks again,

- John

John,

My father knew a person who was hunting down in the Rio Grande Valley when his truck flipped. No one was with him. His wife never heard from him. He was VERY LUCKY when a farmer say his truck out in the middle of no where and was flown to the hospital in Harlingen, TX. He was then taken to TIRR. He also has a spinal injury and is now paralyzed.

He is now out of TIRR and back in the Valley. I saw him during Christmas. He is not able to move much any longer. He is still doing some rehab in Harlingen. I still check up on him. All I can say is when something drastic happens to you, your life will turn around. Not many people know what your life is really worth.

At that point, I shall let you be. I hope you are able to come across a job here in the Houston with something you like to do.

Stephen

This thread has been sticky for some time now. Hopefully John has found a job by now. I have removed the glue from this thread.

John, damnit! A recruiter pulled my resume off of monster 2 days ago and emailed me a position doing L1 Unix/Linux support in Houston. Contract rate was $27 an hour. Too low and out of town for me to consider, but I'm kicking myself for not saving the contact now, grrrr.

I'm sure that pay rate is not what you are used to, but it would be an income until you found something better. Check on monster for that position as I'd bet $ it's still there. There is work in Houston, just look around, good luck with everything my friend. I hope your Dad recoups 100 percent bro.
