Jax Driving School

On Saturday the local BMW club sponsored a driving/safety school at the FCCJ autocross track. I went and it was a lot of fun. I was the only G there, mostly BMWs but there was one Z, a couple of vettes and an Audi, Lexus, etc. Since it was a safety school I wasn't sure how exciting it would be but it turned out to be more intense than I anticipated. There was some classroom instruction and then we ran through a number of exercises on the track, i.e. circular skid pad, slalom, ABS breaking. (A lot of people asked why the G stayed so clean during the skid pad exercise while the other cars were covered in mud - the amazing power of Zaino).

Everything was done at low speed but it was a chance to turn the VDC off and see how the car handles. I learned a lot - and realized that I have a lot left to learn. Took out quite a few little orange cones. Really cringed the first time, but no permanent damage to the car - just a few scuffmarks that can be cleaned up. Not a bad way to spend a Saturday and I'll probably do it again in the Spring.

They usually host one in the Spring and one in the Fall. They are also hosting a 2-day driving school at Roebling Road Raceway in Savannah in February. If anyone is interested I can give you more information.

Re: Jax Driving School

Thanks for the invite!

I wish you had posted this Friday night so we could've gotten in on it. I see how it is now.

They name streets after FLgirl: One Way.

Re: Jax Driving School

Well, I didn't get all the details until the last minute and this being a safety school I wasn't sure what I was in for. Afterwards I did wish that I had posted something in advance because it would have been even more fun with other Gs there. But I did let you know about the one in Savannah and next time they do this locally I'll try to give a little advance notice.

Re: Jax Driving School

I'm there. Just let us know.

I think you were just trying to get one class ahead of us so you could school us at the next one. You're more of a scam artist then drsaab.

Re: Jax Driving School

Any chance of a sunday event ? Saturday is near impossible
for me to escape work and I know some events won't let a walk in on a two day schedule. Roebling is a great track, lots of fast sweepers! Fun, fun and more fun!

Check out the website at firstcoastbmw.org
All the info is there - you will need a helmet and there is something about dark tinted windows being highly discouraged.
