Group DIY Cleared Headlamps

I am all about this mod and cannot find anyone to do it or heard of anyone in our region doing it. Maybe instead of our normal meetings, we can have a weekend or day or whatever where everyone that wants to do it meet up. I am talking about the orange turn signals inside the headlamps by the way. Maybe we could find one of the guys whose done this to fly in for the weekend or something. I would rather do this than spend $500 to ship them out to Jersey for the weekend. If I am being bogus to all of you, then oh well, I just thought it would be helpful to those that don't have the capability but want this mod done. Thanks, let me know!

Re: Group DIY Cleared Headlamps

so you just want to clear the orange blinkers???

Iv been told its VERY complex and you have to heat the lense and melt the orange lense to separate it...then you have to make sure its sealed correctly......oh and its illegal but let me know the price and I might do it

Re: Group DIY Cleared Headlamps

Its no price, just the time it would take out of our lives. I was suggeting we all get together one weekend and do this at say my house or something. So that we all know what were doing... Guess no one else wants to participate. I'm still up for it though

Re: Group DIY Cleared Headlamps

I thought about doing mine when I had the lights split but decided against. Although I don't mind helping out since I've already had mine apart plus I've got a dremel or maybe just to knock a few back with the boyz during the mod.

Re: Group DIY Cleared Headlamps

what did you have your apart for? I personally would like to go all out and paint the housings as well, but I don't know much about dremeling that signal out.

I blacked out my housing and side markers with a black vinyl. It's on my profile.

Re: Group DIY Cleared Headlamps

Im definatly up for watchin, having a few beers, and if all goes well maybe doing it to mine.
But, I have read in other threads that the seal is of utmost importance and therefore I ask...after dremiling the orange lense out....what are you going to use to seal the new lense you put in???

Re: Group DIY Cleared Headlamps

the original glue is still there so when you reset your headlight assembly and rebake it the glue will reseal itself. I went the extra measure and resealed with an all purpose / weather proof sealent just in case. So far no issues.

Re: Group DIY Cleared Headlamps

WE could use my house, i don't have a dremel, but i have an air compressor i could buy a dremel for. And I have an oven and a fridge full of beer! So let me see if I can get someone who has done this before to come down. I am expecting this to happen not that quickly, so be patient with me.

your house it is, name your time/date. After all, who could refuse a cold brew, good company and a little modification?

Re: Group DIY Cleared Headlamps

I have a dremel, don't buy one. It's like one of those things that comes with every attatchment and doodad except for the one you need. You WILL have to make another trip to Home Depot, no matter what you get.

There were people talking about this mod on FA, maybe I'll do a search.

My dad's getting me the drilled pedals (for my birthday in Feb...) sounds like a good time to install.

Re: Group DIY Cleared Headlamps

Talk to the mechanic who took them off and ask him before you talk to the service manager.
Or tell them your gonna trade it in for a 350Z if they don't give them to you.
