Independent review of damage
Independent review of damage
Greetings fellow G35 owners. Need your help. Car was stolen and recovered about two weeks ago. Police report indicated "severe" water damage -- not sure if car was found with sun roof or windows open, however back driver side window has been broken out. Just talked to insurance company and they believe it's repairable. I'd like to get an independent review of damage done, but need name of A+ Infiniti mechanic or guru that could do work. I live in Atlanta, so I'd appreciate a metro-area contact. Thanks in advance!
Re: Independent review of damage
Severe water damage could be really bad. What type of water was it? Salt water? I'd demand a new car. Lake water? I'd demand a new car. Rain Water? Then and only then would I consider keeping the car.
"Severe Water" damage does not come from rain water. I bet some young kids drove your car half way into a pond to "wash off" their finger prints. This is a popular technique for disposing of vehicles that young kids take for joy rides.
One thought might be to get a company like CarMax to do an appraisal of your car. Another thought would be to get your bank to do an appraisal for a loan on your car.
*Play along for a minute if you will. If you owned your car outright, how much money would the bank lend you if you used your car as collateral for the loan? If that amount is 80% or less than of the cost of a new 2004 G35 Coupe, then I'd demand a new car.
Threaten to get a lawyer involved if they will not work with you. That usually will do the trick.
I'm sorry to hear about your problem, good luck getting the situation resolved.
Keep us posted please...
