Louisiana & Gulf Coast G advice & opinion
Louisiana & Gulf Coast G advice & opinion
Didn't see any LA/TX/MS ETC. thread so thought I'd see who's out there in our region.
I'm new here - I got my 07 G5 about a month or so ago. Car is really quick and runs like a dream (great deal on it - 34K miles on her and not a single ding). I live in south LA. I just need advice about good sticky tires.
Car handles poorly under just slightly challenging driving conditions. My husband has an 05 that handles like a dream, sticks under any circumstances. He has OEM 19s with bridgstone potenzas (that he got on trade for $500 plus his OEM 17s! - lucky dog!)
I believe the problem is the tires. I have on OEM17 wheels with new "good tires" - they are "Goodyear Eagle RS - A" 225/50 front and 235/50 rear. I slide when they are even slightly challenged. Makes me think it's even a safety issue. I can't afford to go buy a new set of wheels (If I did I'd get MRR Gt 1 18s) but for now I just need to know what's the problem here? Car slides when husband drives it too so it isn't operator error. The tires just don't stick.
If the goodyear tires are good tires - what else could cause this handling problem? (we"ve tested w/VDC on/off etc) If they are not good tires for a G - for handling - what tires would be best for my 17s?
I'll appreciate all advice! thanks!

Got wheels! Chrome 18s OEM for the 35th Anniversary Z! Beautiful. They came with Yokohama ES100 tires. They don't stick!
On a budget - what about putting sticky tires on the rear and leaving the Yokos on the front?
Bridgestone Potenzas? Any suggestions?
