Question Living in San Diego??

I've been approached by several biotech companies about job positions in San Diego. If I was to move there, where should I try to find places to live. I currently live about 2blocks from the train station and within mins...I'm in Midtown Manhattan. If possible, I wanna live near places equivalent to a Midtown Manhattan.

I'm heading out to visit a friend and to check out the city myself in two weeks. Now, I've heard a lot of good things about the city such as the good weather and cute ladies , but outside of those 2 things...my knowledge is very limited. What are things to keep in mind for someone who's from the NY Metro area? I googled most of the companies and found out that they're concentrated east to northeast of the Univ. of San Diego so I hope that helps .

Thanks in advance to all the SoCal ppl !!

What's up playboi, I'm from the bronx, ny. i been living in san diego for about 2 1/2 years now. Reason is im stationed here in the U.S. Navy. What i can tell you is its a totally different world out here from NYC. The weather is great was wearing shorts yesterday but downtown gaslamp is pretty good as far as clubbing and bar hopping wise. I'm not sure what kind of music your into but hip hop wise its ok. most clubs close at 2:30 am unlike new york. The girls get pretty trashed after the club at 2 am dats when you see people driving in there cars in the gaslamp picking up chicks to take them home , but trust me New York girls are way better especially in the booty department Living wise its better then NYC but its also as expensive here too. The women are way better in New York but los angeles is abour an hour and half north, and a 4 hour drive to Las vegas. But they always say its what you make of it. If you got any questions let me know bro.

Will

They just finished development of some multimillion dollar condo complexes in downtown SanDiego, the trolley is right around there as well. Like the guy above said, the Gaslamp is about 5 mins from anywhere downtown.

If you want something close to downtown NYC, then you will have to move to Downtown SD, in the gaslamp area. 1st-8th ave between F and J. That's the radius I would live in. There are a lot of nice brand new condo's for purchase or rent. I think rent is about 2-3k /month there depending on your living situation. And 750k+ for a 2br 2ba condo middle to higher levels on a high rise condo.

Pacific Beach is pretty nice... but a more quiter place than PB would be La Jolla a little more north... about 10 min away from downtown and the gaslamp

im Puerto Rican, wha are you?, nah man theres not hot 97 or if you speak spanish or listen to spanish stations like el vacilone in la manana lol. Downtown when baseball season is in is nice but when you walk out of the gaslamp, there alot of homeless people but then again this is downtown is still growing. The Padre games are CHEAP compared to Yankee stadium tickets trust me lol you'll spend alot of time at the staduim cuz right after the games on weekends everyone heads to gaslamp to party. You can find a nice loft downtown to make you feel at home. I got some resturant spots to make you feel like u back in NYC. Try craigslist.org they got some nice places downtown. If you got any more questions let me know.

We are on 7171 Ronson. We moved a few months back. Right off of Clairemont Mesa on the 805 freeway. Come check it out.

Where you live will depend on how much money you're going to make. I'm not familiar with the cost of living where you are, but condos downtown SD start around $500,000. If that is not a problem for you, I have a few friends who live downtown and love the lifestyle.
