prospective g35 owner

Hey guys, i currently drive a mkiv supra and am looking for something more practical for daily purposes so im interested in the g35. I was wondering what should i look out for when buying one of these used. I've read the tech part and majority of them have the window motor problem, cd changer jam, and squiky axel? What years would be suitable, i'm looking to spend around the low 20's for these. Thanks

All years are pretty good. But if you are looking for a 20K price range go for an 03 or 04. I have an 03 with 83K on the odometer and my car runs just as well as it did when it was new. I love it!!

common g35 problems:
Something in the head liner makes a popping noise when chassie flex (going up a ramp)
- FIX: install tower strut bar (ARC & Scott's Relentless Bars) are known to work - some have claimed the stillen trunk strut fixes this as well

Stain on windows after rolling it down
- FIX: do not roll down your windows when it is dirty. If you already have a stain then take off your door panel, R&R your window glass and you'll see these cloth guides that keeps the windows from bouncing around.. clean those or take them out.

Radio Head Unit has sound bouncing back and forth
- FIX: smack Driver side Center Console (where radio is housed). Repeat until audio works. OR replace heaad unit with sexy aftermarket one

Axle Clicking
- FIX: take it to your dealer there is a DTB on it & stop launching your car

Cannot do burn out
- FIX: R&R Shifter cover.. Find wire to YAW sensor.. Install on/off switch to enable burn out ability. PULLING THE FUSE WILL CAUSE YOUR ABS TO STOP WORKING.

GAS LID WONT OPEN
- Actuator = owned, take to dealer or buy part yourself

WINDOW WONT ROLL UP
- window motor = owned, take to dealer or buy part yourself (reset with button on motor)

I R&R my intake manifold and now I have a check engine light/service light
- You shouldnt have disconnected the TB harness to the TB.. keep driving.. it'll go away

Vehicle stalls after start up at times
- your idle is off.. take to nissan to get it fixed

i think thats it

^ power is reduced in our cars when stepping on the gas and brake at the same time.. (yes even if you turn VDC off) if you try to do a burn out.. you wont.. you'll just stall or roll forward lol.. some people pull the fuse to the whole system turning off everything INCLUDING ABS.. so if you're going to track you might want to not do that.. a way to get around this is by hooking up a switch to the YAW sensor (harness runs through our center console).. once you cut the connection your "BRAKE, VDC, SLIP" lights will come on but ABS will still continue to function allowing you to TRUELY turn off traction control.

Downside to this is that theres no way to enable traction control back with out recycling the key and of course.. re-connect the harness (flip the switch back on).
