I’m getting closer to pulling the trigger on Volk CE28Ns… My primary consideration is weight/performance – but of course looks matter (not as much to me though)... I’m debating on staggering and whether I should go 18” or 19”… I realize staggering won’t allow rotation, but looks better and possibly add nominally better traction in rear.
I have an 04 sedan on Eibach Pros.
Having that been said – I have a few questions, please!
1) If I go 18” staggered, is 8.5 +40 front and 9.5 +47 rear the way to go?
2) Tires for above: 245/40/18 front and 275/40/18 rear – is this right?
3) If I go 19” staggered, is 8.5 +35 front and 9.5 +45 rear the way to go?
Are there any major drawbacks to going 8.5 all around? If not, should I run a different offset in the rear to pull the wheel out, or will that mess up alignment and/or cause handling problems?
4) I’m getting quotes from vendors – and I previously contacted a place in the Riverside, CA area with great prices but can’t remember who they are… does anyone have a good source (in So Cal) or know the shop in Riverside area I am referring to (they were originally mentioned out here somewhere, but I can’t find it again).
Thanks a bunch (in advance) for any info!

Whether you go 18 or 19 wheels, it's not going to affect the offsets. However, I'm not certain on what "aggressive" offsets are for the Sedan.
You can go 8.5 all around, but I'd recommend staggering your tires.

They are in FL and I don't see Volks on their website?

18"s you will have less rotational mass, less unsprung weight, much more tire selection (street to race compounds)...
19"s you have less tire selection, mostly just aggressive street compounds... higher tire prices,
I personally prefer 18"s...

1) Those offsets will work just fine with the tire sizes you've chosen
2) See 1.
3) Either set off offsets will work. 8.5 +35/9.5 +45 is the most widely used for sedan offsets. It'll make the front a little more flush and the +2mm's on the rear will hardly make a difference. Since you track the car alot, i'd run the 9.5" in the rear with a 275 so you'll have more traction. You CAN do 8.5 all around with different offsets... ei: 8.5 +35 front/ 8.5 +30 rear with a 245/40 all around and it wont mess up anything, it'll just make the rear wheels a little more flush. But when you're adding inches to the wheel, most of the time it's adding to the inside edge so you can stuff more tire under the wheel well.
4) Havent heard of a vendor in Riverside, but Status in Hermosa Beach is always a good choice.

Thanks again everyone
great choice bro, the 18's stagger would've been my recommendation. What tires are you looking for though? I personally like the falken FK452s, but that's my car is set up for street and fk's are quiet.
19 inch tires are expensive as hell....either 18's or 20's FTW

Ooops… I just went to miata.net to verify tire size and it looks like 245/40/18 is quite a bit off from OEM (.6” smaller diameter, .7” shorter sidewall) and is 2% too fast (58.8 when speedo says 60)
It’s also quite a bit off from rear sidewall height and diameter if I run 275/40/18
If I run 245/45/18 it’s exactly the same as the rear sidewall weight and total diameter of 275/40/18 – which are only .4” smaller in diameter and .3” shorter sidewall…. Is there any reason not to run 245/45/18 in stead of 245/40/18?

higher sidewall (in your case, 45 vs 40) will always be a more comfier ride,
lower sidewall will give better handling (less flex)
otherwise, it's also 'looks' sometimes it looks better getting one over the other...
on another note, man, 20's tires are cheap, they're like 17 range...
