Vandalism...

Aright. The Basics: (I live in Northridge right by CSUN and most of the kids in highschool here are BEYOND stuck up.)
Left for Mammoth friday and my dumb@ss forgot to put my G in the garage cuz its broken. Saturday morning I get a text from my mom saying my car was egged again...no surprise here. Its the 7th time in a spread of 2 years. So now. We are going to get a security camera installed and was wondering if anyone here can recommend a good one? that will catch the car and a face of the person, also license plate. Im also going to be picking up a car cover too. Im thinking this kid is from the highschool i went to who is still in highschool. I know it has to be. Cuz back in highschool, lets just say I wasnt a people person til I got outta there. When they egged me, it has always been on a friday or saturday night when they egged me. Im not gonna lie. I have been looking for this kid and believe me, I will set an example to his groupies. But then again I might press charges so I can repaint my car. IF I ever find the b*tch. Cant even grow a pair to face me straight up. Well the main point of this thread is what Security Camera do you guys recommend?

Thanks again

Dude... I'm sorry to hear that happened again!!! Fvckers just don't know how to act!!!! I'd just find them and kill them in a heart beat, but again, you won't be getting anything out of it so just press charges against them.

Also, I'm not an expert, but how about http://www.x10.com/key_products/stealth-cam.htm??

I'd recommend a standard 420 tv line body camera. And get a varifocal manual iris lens from 2.8-12mm. Should not cost more than $150.

Bro that sucks! Good luck finding a camera - Stakeouts work even better
And if you decide you're going to take further action, taking matters into your own hands if you will, keep it off the internet.

Im headin out to Fry's tomorrow to check some things out and prolly talk to a hottie too. maybe she will hook it up. im most likely not gonna do anything just press charges. so i can get a new body paint. ima end up painting it flat black in the future. so im not stressin bout it getting egged. 7th time...im used to it... its my fault for leaving it out. i should always keep it in the garage but this time. the garage broke and i thought it would be safe to leave it out this time.

Unfortunately in low light situations, security cameras equipped with infrared won't get the detailed description you're looking for. At best you'll have the suspect's vehicle, which is at times enough as long as you have an idea whose doing it. Go to Fry's and see the types of infrared cameras they have.

Better suggestion, get two camcorders, place one at the rear windshield facing the perps and stage the other near the bushes. It's a whole lot cheaper and vhs tapes are good for 6hrs +.

what is the position of your house to the street?

I don't think you need to go with a stealth cam. Regular will do if you can place it on the house. I doubt he'll see it at night. Just make sure nobody sees you installing it.

Make it quick, You never know who's watching.

To catch his plate I would use a Wireless cam and would set it up somewhere on the street. So I'll be looking directly at the front of the car.

Might also wanna put one more that would look the other direction in case there is no front plate.

Good luck.

PS. Just use wireless cams for entire setup, easier without wires.

If you want to catch him at night then you'll need an IR Camera. There is a store in Sherman Oaks called Spy Shop. Just go south on Van Nuys before Ventura. It's on the west side of Van Nuys.

If it's a wireless cam you can actually put in in the Mercedes so I'll be recording from the car through the window.

And another from a window you took a picture from
