Eff the stealerships

So I really never worked on cars growing up. My dad grew up pretty low income in East LA and I guess it was just a given that as a guy you worked on cars because to get repairs done was too expensive. He tried to teach me to work on cars, but I wouldn't listen and didn't care. So I never worked on cars and was basically retarded when it came to any kind of repairs.

Well with this car(2003 G35 Coupe), everything is real expensive to get done except oil changes. So I had my dad help me with the brakes a couple times and now I can do it on my own. Simple stuff is really simple and yet the dealerships charge super ripoff prices. Like the in cabin airfilter(BTW those things get really really super dirty). Dealer wants like $110 and I think Miller Infiniti has a "special" for $80. Screw that. Thanks to the DIY's here and a video posted on You Tube, a $15 OEM air filter off ebay and 10 minutes saved me all that money.

And now today....my biggest money saver yet. My drivers window hasn't worked for a while and its been bothering me. But Miller wanted like $500+ and West Covina wanted like $250(plus its an hour drive for me). So I started reading up, got a copy of the repair manual, and bought a motor for $21 shipped off ebay. It took me a bit of time cause it was a pain to do a couple of things, but I got it done. Window works correctly and everything.

So screw the stealerships. They bill a bazillion hours of labor for what in actuality is a 1 hour job at most for them. Now after doing one of these motors, I could easily do another one in 1 hours time. Yet the dealership will automatically bill 2.5-3 hours labor for this job. Super super weak.

Now you can charge for replacing busted window motors for under dealership prices. I heard those things are breaking down like crazy recently.

yeah, dealerships ftl
the latest stealership deception was the "your brakes are down to 1mm" line. popped the calipers open to change them myself only to find that more than half the pad was left. anyway, take anything they tell you with a grain of salt and always get a second opinion.

Nothing new haha....Only reason why i would take it to the stealership is that I'm out of warranty and their's things i just don't know how to fix relating to stock and the dealers is the best last resort. But besides that, screw stealerships

That happened to me a couple times with Miller Infiniti. I put ceramic pads in once I was out of warranty and like after only 15K miles they said..."Oh, your pads are almost done". Took the tire of and the things had like 66% left. Whatever.

Any work you can do the car yourself will ALWAYS be cheaper than the dealership.

However, your own work isn't warranted; the dealer's is. Also, how much is your time worth? To some people, their time is more valueable than what they pay for labor at the dealership.

Next time, call us for a quote for work.
