Being a student is an opportunity cost, you have to deal with making less money now, and hopefully it'll bear fruition in the future. School's not for everyone and it certainly doesn't guarantee a successful career for those who are college educated. In the end, what I believe really matters is who you know and hard work that'll give you that edge needed to advance. For me, I don't really plan to work in the profession of my major (finance). The reason I'm studying finance is for my personal desire to understand money (interest, bond valuation, cost of debt, etc.) and real estate. Having a degree is also for my peace of mind so that I can say I have a back up plan. Good luck to everyone who still have finals.

You mean when you "a fool can't make any money while in school, and when you graduate"... lol

Money isn't everything. I'll pay less than you for my SC setup in the end and I will still have a faster car.

PS without a degree the ceiling for potential wages is about 50k. If you think you can make money by starting your own business, well fine, you can do that, but the vast majority of those businesses are bought out at a loss to the owner or fail because they are run by uneducated fools. You gotta pay to play man.

Even it were that an uneducated person can make as much or more than an uneducated person, line the two up next to each other and hold a conversation and see who wins. There is a huge difference between an educated person and an uneducated person, period.

As do many looser community college kids. Very few make any money compared to the efforts they put into it.

Everything is an opportunity cost. Starting your own business or career without an education and building that up are opportunity costs as well. Most find that an education is a lower opportunity cost than people here are making it out to be lol.

Yeah, I'm doing civil engineering and i'm gonna make 70k to start, i dont think its a bad start and money aint everything. once i get my license i intend to pursue a degree in law though. if stuff happens that forces my hand or i just dont feel as ambitious anymore, i still have a degree that is valuable to me, and society. so thats why im in school.
