Those wireless transmitters cost a grip!

I want some off camera lighting too, maybe a few Alien Bees, but am not ready to drop that kind of money yet. Its so hard having two money pits!
that'd be cool!

i'm attending a workshop in late dec or early january by tristan kallas. the man is only 22 but a flippin genius behind the camera!

^^not sure if you can view his profile. i'm always logged in so i dont know if the public can see it (i'm assuming he made his profile public).

if not, here are some examples of his work...NUTZ!

the lighting on this is RIDIC! it's funny how much more you appreciate nice photos after you start shooting seriously yourself

That dude has major talent. You'll have to share what you learn from him.

it ranges, depending on which lights/umbrellas. you can get a kit for a few hundred bucks or thousands. and i guarantee that you will get what you pay for with this hobby. occasionally you will find a cheap bang for your buck piece of equipment, but for the most part you will pay up your as.s for the good stuff.

he's only charging ~$40 for the workshop. i actually told him to raise it, lol (but i told him to honor the $40 price for me ).

the guy is 22 and shoots with a 1d mkIIn

i don't even wanna know how much he's invested in lighting and glass. but it's pretty apparent that it was all worth it.

Let me know when you are going, I'll try and join you. $40 is way too cheap for a workshop from that guy.

that's what i said! tristan is super cool. i've exchanged a few messages with him already. i don't think he's doing the workshop purely for money, otherwise he'd charge way more. he mentioned he wanted a couple more alienbees, and i think this is his solution to paying for them...which is a great idea. i told him people would be willing to pay a couple hundred (not me at the moment). he might raise it a bit because i dont think he had any idea what the "going rate" for this stuff is. but i'd pay up to $75 (at the very most, i'm a poor college student ) for a good day's worth of shooting with him.

like i said, i've seen these workshops go for $400+ on POTN
