I've been using test pipes for about a year with no problems at all.

*Knock on wood!*

I have been pulled over 3 times with my test pipes on and was never even asked about them. I remember once it was smelling like crap when i pulled over cause i turned the car off when i stopped instead of rolling with the car off before coming to stop, and still did not have an issue with the cop.

$1000+ fine. And im being conservative with that number

California does not take emissions lightly. Hell, they are the other way around to the extreme!

a cop can mark no front plate or tint (among other things) as correctable or not correctable:
correctable (fix-it ticket) = fix the problem, go to ref station and get it signed off by officer, pay $10
not correctable = you're looking at $200+

as for exhaust mods, if a cop can hear it, then expect to get hassled

cop can mark a front plate ticket as a felony, that doesn't mean violating the front plate rule is a feolony. Tints, plates and **** like that are all corectible violations with $10 fine court fine, no matter which box the cop checked off.

This all depends on the cop, worst case he could have your car impounded
and you'd still end up paying in excess of $1k just for the ticket plus the
impound fees and $45 per day the cars locked up....is it worth having test
pipes? Magnaflow should have their Ca. legal HFCs on the market, I'll ask
my son Chris what the status is.
