Jason:
Whatever you do, get a camera with 3 CCD chip and the "steady cam" feature. This will give resolution and definition that is much superior, and the vibration is dampened considerably. Otherwise without those features you will have a hard time getting enjoyable video capture.

Clint, do you know what's up with the results of the event? They said it would be up last night at 7pm and there's still nothing.

They're slacking! I'd give them a few more days.

Ed,
While riding shotgun and instructing Arash, you got by and proceeded to put my words of what a proper racing line ought to look like in front of us with your driving. Thanks for making my job easier. I belive the words out of Arash was, "Ohhh, so that's what you wanted?"

Thanks, Clint. The temps were so high (102 -106 degrees in the paddock, heaven only knows how much higher on the track!) that with forced induction and no pre-ignition protection, I was most reluctant to run WOT. Accordingly, I ran the entire circuit in only two gears!! From the top of turn 6 through 9, then down the front straight and into the approach for turn 3....I kept the car in fifth gear. This kept the rpms down low. Turn 1 is about 80-85mph and turn 2 is the same, so it could be done easily. Of course the preferred way is to downshift to fourth going into 9 and 1 and holding fourth through 2, so that you get a lot more acceleration punch out of the turn. As a result, my hp advantage only really came on in the latter part of the straights when the rpms got to 5k. Most of the time it was around 3500 and just cruisin. In turn 3 I dropped to fourth and again just tried to smooth the lines, maintaining the max speed in the turn, but sacrificing exit acceleration by being too tall. I held fourth all the way down through the crest at turn 6, then upshifted again. Still managed to get low 1.47 time with that combination. The results were thus all in picking the line and carrying late braking and proper turn in. So even though I could not push it hard, it was a very productive school day on the track. We gotta get some cold air because my supercharger is not happy with heat like that! The good news is no problems and she is running just fine. A little common sense goes a long way to preserving the machinery. And it was still plenty of fun. I have no idea what it cost in terms of laptimes, but it doesn't matter. To run 1.47s using only two tall gears is plenty fine for this old guy.

Re: Good Day at Willow Springs Raceway

Excellent times guys!

Who else's going to Cali Speedway in two weeks? I might pass this one up, but am very tempted to be there just to sort out my suspension settings.

Re: Good Day at Willow Springs Raceway

Arash:
I will definitely be going. May have to mess with the camber and alignment on the fronts based on tire wear pattern from the last run at Willow Springs. Jason is going to review that with one of his techs and advise. If they get them I will also probably drop an oil pan spacer in so I can stuff an extra quart of oil in there to help with heat. I will check with Speedventures about running with a passenger. Since I am not a redgroup driver I need to make sure it is ok with them.
Given the number of outings we are building on I would think by now it is fine, but it is their show, so need to check.
