i would say its necessary unless you want to fold the corners and have fold lines everywhere. a hair dryer might get hot enough to soften the material if you dont have a heat gun

a guy with an M3 wants me to do it... seems like an easier install, but i wanna get a few more interiors done before a roof.... u want me to do your roof as well or interior lol

THe Black CF is waterproof and made for exteriors so it will last. SOme of the other colors of CF that 3M has are not so be careful. It does scratch too. I had mine on 1 week and the dealer scratched the side of my ish..
