So they tow your car away if you don't pass? That blows. Hope they don't bring any to my area.

Thanks for the heads up.

Just my take on this after some research and review of the law on this test I have decided to do the following. The law states that it is a voluntary test, refuse the test with a good reason and nicely. I’m not volunteering for this test as I don’t have time for it, I have to pick up my pre-school kids at day care, my mom was just taken to the emergency room and I have to pick up my sister on the way etc. The law states it is voluntary and they can't force you to comply with out some suspicion of a violation of law, and a line of cars is not suspicion. The team will try to harass you for not taking the test but stand firm and don’t go for the threats. Smog **** is the correct term for this violation of our 4th and 5th amendments. If you see a sign showing survey crew ahead, make a legal left or right turn, they will not chase you down because this is not a DUI check point, so avoid these stops if at all possible. Oh, and they will try to dyno your car and they can damage your car as they are not pro's at the tuning business and have purchased the lowest bidder equipment on the market.

Take care.

gttsome hit that nail right on the head, road side smog checks are completely voluntary. Although they will definitely harass you and make you feel like it is the same as a mandatory DUI check point.

The road side test are used to survey of how effective the smog testing system is actually being run in the state. Many people are unaware that these test even exist so most people have no clue that the test are voluntary, So SPREAD THE WORD!

another reason I want out of CA... it is being completely ruined.

BTW, statistics show the air in CA is as clean as its ever been... this "pollution" and "global warming" crap is a farce... CARB has been called out in recent months - but those kooks have a lot of power, and with it they are helping keep the state in debt, jobless and running businesses out... I guess they wont be satisfied until they run all native Californians out too.

Question: If the state of California has the $$ to do these kinda smog checks why haven't they sent me my state refund from last years taxes?? I have no problem passing their smog check as long as it's not a visual....is it safe to install HFCs now? Probably not!

Thanks...

I'm so sorry for all this "STUFF" that we have to deal with day to day, & the Fun-Fun". Just a point to ponder; if a good soul had a choice to inhale carbon or cobalt which would you rather take in? For me, I guess the old stuff would be my first choice, at the very least I can spit carbon back out, as for our wonderful "CAT" stuff, I'm not so sure what I can or could deal with to handle that chemical, so what is in that cobalt ??? So maybe this cobalt CAT stuff is better for all of us like say that wonderful asbestos material that was deemed "OK" by our watchdog government. Thanks for the thumbs up on my suggestion, and the best of luck to us all if and when we get trapped in a **** Smog test check point. And again it's all about the $$$$$$ game, love, love, love.

Thanks again for the first thread on this notice, this stuff is just another wonderful attack on us and the good working citizens of our state. And thanks for the hat tip for my attempt to share a possible slide out of another kill zone.

Take care all.

I have seen several of these smog checkpoints by where i live. Usually on Valley Blvd, Before hitting nogales. From what i have seen they target older cars and i guess fixed up cars that they know mostlikely wont pass.

wow, that is good to know...

I have also posted an article where the state is going to change the way they smog cars. They are going to start using the cars CPU to see if it will pass or not. Older cars will still be using the current method to smog.
