Re: A Nice G Day at Sound Advice
For the AVN and Dash kit w/ AC controller installed you are looking at about $2,500.
Thanks for the compliments guys, and no worries Ed yours is under wraps.

Re: A Nice G Day at Sound Advice
Hey, that is my car!
I was actually going to post a separate thread about this in the AV forum, but I see that Rudy has beat me to it here!
Sound Advice did a wonderful install of the double DIN kit [ordered that from J's Garage in Japan], the Eclipse AVN 2454 DVD Nav unit [seen in the pict above], and a JL Audio 500/5 amp [in the trunk].
The AVN unit's face folds down and the slot for the CD and DVD are behind that. It is a pretty amazing unit [I'm actually having to read the Owner's manual to figure out all of the features]! The LCD screen itself is very good for a touch screen unit. I tried out Shrek on DVD and the video performance was better than I expected. The unit plays CDR's, and also played back movies recorded on DVD-R's.
I really like the double DIN size of the AVN unit, as I think it looks the slickest when installed. The single DIN, motorized flip up screen units [like the AVIC-1] are neat, but they would block the A/C controls when up, plus vibrate / shake when the car is in motion [especially if you have a stiffer suspension set up].
Overall, so far I'm very impressed with the AVN's performance. The only downside that I've discovered so far, is the CDR MP3 performance. The unit is somewhat particular of what will playback smoothly [only MP3 files up to 128 kbps], and the access time [switching tracks, etc.] is extremely slow [per the manual that is to be expected though!]. They definately need to fix this problem in the next generation.
The AVN does have an aux. input, so you can hook up whatever you want to it [provided it outputs via the standard L/R and video RCA connectors]. I had Sound Advice put in an extension cable so that the outputs are by the passenger's seat [just tucked into the side of the center console for now]. I currently have that retro Atari all in one joystick / game unit [you can get that at places like Best Buy, etc.] hooked up. It is pretty fun to just turn it on, and then play a few games of Ms. Pac Man and Galaga!
I'll post up a few more picts later tonight when I get home from work. Feel free to ask me any questions about the unit or process.
I can say though that Sound Advice was great to work with. It was a drive to get there [about 1 hour], but well worth the effort in the end. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking to do an install like this! Great job Josh and Rudy!

Thanks Jonathan, it was a pleasure to have your car grace our shop. I love that retro atari set up, very cool. Bruce's will be finished up today too. Then we get to dig back into Ed's for more toys. Also I hope to have the new 8" sedan stealth box ready by this weekend. We strive to be the G specialists, so I hope to make the drive worth it.

Rudy, no problems, the compliments are well deserved. I'm definately interested in that 8" sub stealth box that you are working on for the sedan. If that pans out for you, then I'm most likely going to be coming back for one of those too! A sub and probably a CD changer are next on my list of items to purchase and have installed.
