Re: dui!!!!!!!
What kinda of test(s) did they perform?
Personally as long as I'm not actually drunk, I'd probably request to have several types done. Blood, urine, breathalizer, and field sobriety tests. The timing of alcohol consumption in relation to when the tests are taken can have an effect on the results. And if you pass the field sobriety test(showing your coordination and judgement is in tact, it can go a long way in showing that you were actually coordinated enough to drive safely). And if the three other BAC tests are inconsistent, it can really punch holes in the prosecution's case if the BAC levels are borderline. Of course if the BAC levels and the field sobriety tests are pretty convincing, that's another story altogether.
Of course this is based on my own drinking habits as I tend to be a good judge of how much is too much, when I plan to drive home. So I would expect if I am driving, I will be borderline at worst.

Re: dui!!!!!!!
Weigh the costs and decide what it is worth to you.
Private attorneys cost thousands, even for DUI cases.
If you make only a little money, you can use a Public Defender.
Either way, the most likely disposition will be that you plead no contest to a misdemeanor, will temporarily have your license suspended, will pay $2000 or so in fines, will attend six months of AA, and will be on probation for a year or two.
Except in rare circumstances, that is what is going to happen not matter how good a lawyer you have.

After 4 of my friends have earned DUIs, I decided that I will not drive anywhere if I will be drinking. I'm healthy enough to walk back from the piers (~2 mi) or cabs are cheap. For those times when I'm somewhere far and ahve my car, I leave it and then bum a ride from my roommate. If I can't do that, I will crash there or get a hotel. All this expense seems reidiculous sometimes, but then I remember the $5k my buddy paid- and he couldn't drive his SS for almost 2 years....
His advice was to be cooperative (at least in our small college town). He said the judge thanked him afterwards for being mature and realizing he made a mistake. The judge apparently made a comment about people thinking they can use lawyers to dodge responsibilities.
The popular wisdom is to refuse a breathalizer and stall or ask as many questions as possible to delay the test. Apparently the urine test needs to be done privately (they can't ask you to whip it out on the side of the road). This together with asking questions about what is going on, and taking time to "read" all the forms has bailed out one of my friends who was near the limit, but under.
He told me that he was damned nervous because he knew he was drinking, but didn't know if he was over or not. Two months later he got a DUI and was lucky he didn't get into an accident...
I wish you the best of luck though with whatever happens. This must be a stressful time in your life (hopefully).

If you're most likely disposition is to plea, and you have a low enough income to qualify for the PD's services(like maybe you are a student and only drive a G35 because your parents paid for it), why would you need to pay for an attorney?
You mock without knowledge.

I recommend Robert Ernenwein (310) 782-0552 in Torrance. I have seen him in action (not as a defendant - I worked in the Torrance DA’s office during law school) and he is an excellent attorney.
I also would not completely right off the public defender either. Public Defenders work very hard and I disagree with them being referred to as “pretenders”. If you are planning on just pleading guilty/no contest or have a tight $ situation the public defender is another option to consider.

Re: dui!!!!!!!
Damn! i got one in march.. AA school sucks a$$.. especially if u have to go to outside AA meetings. Basically lawyers only do the paper work for you. Its pretty damn hard to fight it. Even if you win in the courts DMV still suspends your license. Court and DMV are seperate. Hope you find a good insurance company. if u need a good agent try Andy at right stop insurance. its in Santa Ana.

Re: dui!!!!!!!
sorry about your situation, I have dealt with the situation too, my gf got arrested for the same thing, except she was TOTALLY SOBER, he arrested her because he said she was on drugs, (she is at ucla law school, she would be the last person to be on drugs), one thing that might happen is that the DA will not file charges on you because of the lack of evdience if you really drank two beers, it is easier to arrest you than to fight with them at curbside, my officer was training a rookie and is considered an "expert" It is really hard to sue or get money back from them too, I would try to get an attorney to see if they can get your case from being filed due to a lack of evidence, or you would have to prove in court that you were not leagally drunk, cops lie and are corrupt, so that might be hard to do. They often try to trick you when they are questioning you. Also, you need an attorney to be able to see your arrest record because they do not have to show you the results of your breath test, which is in your arrest record. It is important to see this because it will show how drunk you were, your attorney might be able to work out something with the DA. My gf is trying to get her arrest record expunged, but it is equally hard, we might have to sue because they keep ignoring our claims. btw it was monterey park pd. After this incident, I strongly dislike cops, they are a legalized gang, VOTE no on measure A! email me if have ?
