Mega Meet: Sunday Dec 11th/ TOYS FOR TOTS CHARITY EVENT!

Creating a new thread on this one, since the old one had so many pages. The Mega Meet that G35lin was putting together was connected to the Team Transport Toys for Tots Car Show at the Pacific Palms Conference Resort in the City of Industry. Sport Z Magazine will also be on hand, so there is a chance to get your ride in their magazine.

For those that would like to show there will be multiple categories, including "stock". The cost is $20 ($30 after Nov 15th), which will also include a lunch and beverages catered by the Pacific Palms. This is a free event for spectators. We plan to have preferred G35Driver parking only for those that register as spectators beforehand. Spectators or passengers of show participants may also purchase lunch, in advance when registering.

All participants and spectators are requested to bring a NEW UNWRAPPED toy (worth at least $10) to donate to the Marines Toys for Tots campaign.

Those that have already expressed interest are listed below. It is OK to add your name here, but please register officially with the event to be counted so we can secure parking for the So Cal G's / G35driver.com folks.

G35Drivers that register to Show will receive VIP Access to the hospitality area, too.

G35Drivers that register as Spectators will park together as a group inside the show area, and be allowed to leave before the event ends if they pre-register and arrive by 9am.

Bring the whole family.. there will be games (inflatables jumpers/slides etc), as well as visit from Santa Claus!

Load-in is from 8a to 10a (G35Drivers should arrive by 9am)
Show is open to the public from 11-3pm

If registering as a spectator, please fill out the first question in the reg questions where it asks for "Team or Organization", please enter G35driver"

hm lets see how this goes.. if i get my kit on i'll register ;)

TINMAN Sep 13, 2005 09:00 AM

Sunday? i'm out :( i might be able to drive by and drop the toys.

SoCalTed Sep 13, 2005 11:07 AM

Tinman: Sorry, we had to do it on a Sunday for a couple of reasons:

1) Everybody has a holiday party on Fri or Sat night
2) The hotel is booked fri and sat night
3) The hotel wouldn't charge us for the parking lot if we did it on a sunday

Klumyzee:
Even if you don't get your kit, come on out for the Mega meet. Just register as a spectator.

Cheers, ted

TINMAN Sep 13, 2005 03:18 PM

I'm in. Is anyone showing their cars? I really like the fact that they have a show class for "daily driven cars". All the shows I used to show in never had that. It would be nicer if there were certain criteria to fall into this category... for example; having a certan numbers of miles on the car. A trailor queen show car can easily lie and win that category. I also lost in my division because of stupid politics.

The last time I showed at the Pacific Palms it was in the middle of summer. Theres was NO SHADE THERE, and I was really sunburned afterward! It'll be nice to have one in Dec... alot cooler :)

If someone is showing theirs, I might show mine along with them. For now, I'm registered as a spectator.

SoCalTed Sep 30, 2005 12:08 PM

Well, we can't get the criteria as finite as certain number of miles etc... as we have a lot of diff types of cars and our budget can only support so many trophies! Plus, we'd need to start handing them out at noon! (the judges hate to be rushed) A trailer queen will find it hard to lie... we know most of the cars as we hit more shows than they do ... from SF to Vegas to SD! Besides, they'd be scared to death to drive it there in the first place :)

There will be G's there for sure.. maybe not from this forum, but most teams are coming out.

On second thought, I dont think I'll be showing. I havent been to a carshow in years, and I have no idea what the compitition is, or where the "standard" is now. I have no idea how my car will compare with the rest of the cars. Also, in the sign up form, theres a classification for "daily driver", but in the awards section, theres no awards for any daily driven cars.

And on the first sign up page, it says "There will be NO GATE Registration for car show vehicles..." What exactly is that?

And last question, do you know how many cars are estimated to be showing?

SoCalTed Oct 3, 2005 12:21 PM

WOW.. OK... I'll attempt to answer your questions:

where the "standard" is now

There is no Standard in competition right now. If you go to Extreme Autofest shows, they like clean rides with a purpose. I mean, if Tinman went and had dirty wheels, a dusty engine, or mummified french fries under the seat, he get a pat on the back and that's it. This last weekend in Chula Vista, Transport took home 1st Infiniti (Shady's Supercharged FX) and 3rd (my nitrous sedan). 6MTPnut (Kallusive) took home 2nd for his sedan with new paint and sportec kit. No G-coupes won anything, and there were 7 of them there.

But, if we go to a Showoff or HIN, it's all about the bling bling. What's a sedan? No verticals doors?! Stock paint and only 1 or two screens...no chance.

If you are looking for me to tell you if you have a chance to win a trophy, or if you will only show if you can win a trophy, well I can 't answer either of those. It's not fair and the "showing" is about the scene, community and the ride. You just gotta put it out there. No matter what, you will learn where you sit and what you need to do if you want to win in the future if it doesn't land on you this time around.

Daily Driver Classification
First, let's talk about "Daily Driver". All of Team Transport's member rides are Daily Drivers. Meaning, street legal or not, we drive them everyday to work, school or play. From stock to 400+HP, they are on the road taking rock chips and playing parking lot bingo. But they are all showroom clean when showtime comes around. Daily Driver does not always equal Stock.

We need 6 cars to create a category. For instance, if we get 20 G's and 10 of them select "stock" as their classification, then we will have a Stock G35 AND Street (Daily Driver) G35 trophied categories. But what is stock? Do you have a Z-tube, a/m Stereo or intake? That's not stock!

Also, let's say 25 G35's register: 9 sedans-street, 9 coupes-street, 7 sedans/coupes stock THEN there will be 3 Trophied G35 categories. Sedan-Street, Coupe Street and Stock G35 (mixed coupe/sedan). get it?

So, if you assist us with rounding-up G's and help us to classify/sub classify all the rides.. I will make classes for them. Remember, I'm expecting upwards of 200 rides at this event, so even though I am a G-Man, what I do for one group I have to do for them all. But this is the same offer I have given to all the forums out there. If they help me, I will show the love!

How many cars will be showing
I expect 200. How many G's? I don't know, I still have 2 G35 trophies in the garage from last year cuz I didn't have anyone to award them to. So this year everyone will have to register for me to know. G35Driver forum members flaked pretty heavy last year.. of the 30 that registered, only about 4 came out. That's why we have online registration this year. That's why we are charging this year (for show). We took a big hit last year, but it was all for charity, so its all good. All of Team Transport's G35's will be there, but we don't compete, since we are the hosts.

=============> Register Now :) <============

-Ted

Just wanted to update everyone on our sponsors list:

Luxury Motorworks,
Street Image,
Creative Autoworks,
SportZ Magazine,
Super Street magazine

Registration continues... but it will go up to $30 after Nov 15th to cover the cost of expedited trophies for last minute categories adds. Rush trophies cost $$, so register early!

iwantacookie Oct 11, 2005 12:08 PM

If we sign up and go... show up at nine, could we leave in between and come back? or is it after we leave we wouldn't be able to get back in?

G35Lin Oct 11, 2005 02:22 PM

hm... after you leave you probably can't back into the same parking place you were assigned.. you would probably have to park where the spectators are parked
