OK. I am back in the hotel after all day’s work to response to all the hate mails.

Let me just get one thing straight. I am not a cop, but I do work for a company which furnishes communications backbone to law enforcement agencies nation wide. And yes, I work with many jurisdictions throughout the country.

The fact is, I was driving and my colleagues are a LT from Riverside County and a Sgt from Orange County, both of CHP. We were on our way to a meeting with the Chief when we ran into this incident.

The LT had his SLR digital camera with him when this dumbarse raced past us in speed excessive of over 100 mph. He cut right into my lane and proceed to pass another car on the shoulder. The LT captured the entire episode, a total of four frames. The license plate he captured is clear as day. The charge will be reckless driving and endangerment. A charge will likely to not only put him behind bars for awhile and the Department is working to revoke his license for life, or at least as long as possible. I was on I-15N, and not I-5N. It was my mistake. It was pointed out to me by the Sgt today when I was asked file the report.

The license of the Honda is also identified from the pictures, it is up to the Department whether they want to go after him as well.

Now, as for you angry crowd, I honestly don’t give a rat’s **** what you think of me. I think every citizen should do the same when they see such inappropriate behavior. You don’t own the road, and you don’t own other’s life. When you are out there endangering others, you deserve to be caught. Driving is a privilege, not a right. I have agreed to testify in court to ensure this arsehole is off the road for a very long time. I will spare no mercy on him, as he displayed no responsibility on his part.

The Department identified the owner of the G from this forum. All I can say is that he is from the Thousands Oaks area. I am sure the CHP will pay him a visit when the paper is in order by tomorrow. The pictures the LT took match the ones he posts on the forum.

And for those who claim people drive like this in CA is totally full of siht. I come out here to Southern CA once a month for work for the last 15 years so I don’t buy your crap. CA is my second home. As a matter of fact, I have always admired the people drive much better here than those back East. Sure, there are always bad apples. Like the one I encountered.

Enough said. Call me what you want. I honestly don't care.

Elau,

I'm sorry but I don't think the law works like this. Isn't that entrapment? Technically doesn't the officer have to be present and actually catch the guy?
I don't know if it's true, but I heard plain clothes police officers aren't allowed to give out traffic citations.

One thing I do know for sure is, if one of those camera's catch you running a red light, it's a fine, but it's not a point/moving violation. If you indeed catch this guy speeding on Camera, wouldn't it follow under those same rules?

If doesn't matter. The guy was caught breaking the law, with pics to proof. The reason he was not caught at the scene due to the fact that I am not a cop, and we were not driving a police cruiser. They were in uniform, but in a civilian vehicle and cannot endanger me by making demands to go after him.

Well, does that mean entrapment if you are caught robbing a bank by the video?

The law only asks for evidence. What better evidence is there when it is presented by two off duty officers? And a civilian who is willing to testify?

The point is not even limited to just speeding. It is outright reckless driving and passing cars using the shoulder. Do you not agree he deserves what's coming to him? What if your mom happened to be on the same road and got ran off? I bet you will change your tone.

If you make communications for Law enforcement, then why didnt you just communicate with them?

soooo i can take a pic of ANY car on the fwy, take a friend to the police station with me, and claim that THE CAR ON THE PICTURE was overspeeding and have my friend verify this?
if i dont like a certain person for personal reasons, you're saying i can pull this off by taking a pic of his car on the fwy and tell the CHP "oh he was overspeeding, and i have a friend who can tell you the same thing"
you're sooooo lame

Hey, I just saw that same GD Accord with Skyline badge this morning. I even had the time to look for my camera under the seat, unziped the camera back, took it out of it, turn it on and took a couple of pics as he passed me going over 200 MPH. Wonder what he has under the hood.
