I don't know about SoCal being better than NorCal... I'm from L.A. and I'd prefer not to be here. People in L.A. are way too uptight. The only thing keeping me here is family and friends.

I think up north people talk a little more casually, I've had friends in SoCal tell me I sound a little drunk. Then again, that might be the marijuana blowing down from the Ridge.
That sort of lazy speech might not be the Bay Area as much as Tahoe, Auburn and Roseville, up to Shasta and then over to Reno. Danville definitely seems to have a SoCal influence, at least. But everyone I know above Roseville talks **** about the people from below there because they don't know the river and aren't local. Every year someone from down in the valley comes up and gets themselves drowned in the Yuba. Also, we're all hippies up here, carpooling to our co-op farms and living in yurts. It's cool to be vegan and go on a cleanse every other week.
There's a ridiculous number of artists, too, and nobody to buy up all the art.
SoCal would have the valley girl stuff, you notice when you leave and come back. And you guys seem to be a bit faster paced, which is actually kind of nice. I get sick of people sitting in the fast lane, like preventing you from going the speed you want is some kind of public service. Personally I think there's a little more 'attitude' down south, too, which I noticed because when I moved up here people told me I had one.
Last thing is, you make fun of our hella and we make fun of your DUUUDE...
