Question about clicking sound from the diff...

What exactly does it sound like? I happen to drive my car today before I turned the radio on and I heard a clacking sound from the rear. So I drive it slowly for about 20ft and I hear the same sound. Is this the famous clicking sound that you guys are talking about? It only happens when I drive slow but I can't hear it when I go over 30mph. Any input is appreciated thanks in advance.

it sorta sounds like a zip tie when u're just beginning to move the car and coming to a stop. the clicking is only audible in low speeds.

Glenn,

You need to take your car to the dealer to have the TSB for the axle performed on your car it shouldn't cost you a thing . I have the same clicking noise and I plan to get it done when I come back to the U.S. Derek

Dsskyline is correct... the rear axle needs one of two things done... tighten the axle nut or the TSB for the rear axle... it is probably best if you tell your dealership that it is happening on both driver and passenger rear axles so they replace the nut and the bearings on both sides at once.

The dealership will know what is going on... because this is a common problem on the G.

I had the problem on the passenger side first then the driver side a month later... so better to get them corrected at the same time...

Falls under warrenty so no worries.

Had my rear axle bolts replaced by the dealer and the clicking/rattling noise is gone. Good luck!

Wow! I better go and get my car checked as well. I just started noticing the same noise over this past month.

Later,

Ray

P.S. My car looks great with the '06 front bumper.
