Clutch Work - How much is reasonable?

So I need to have my clutch and flywheel replaced. I'm getting quotes for between 450 - 550. Is this right?? Seems a bit on the high end.
I'm located in West LA. Anyone have any good recommendations for good places that aren't going to cost me a grip?? Thanks!

i'm staying positive by saying to myself "now i can upgrade to something better - sweeet" you always feel better about upgrading something versus replacing something worn out

36K about right? Tell them to go F'uck themselves.....ferarri's last longer than that. If you honestly drive it normal and arent to hard on it, you should get atleast 60K+...I wouldn't settle for anything less than 100K with my type of driving...I baby this bitch.

36,000miles requires a new clutch job? i don't think that's reasonable at all. it's downright horrible.

unless you're riding your clutch all the time, i don't see how you need a new clutch job at 36k miles. a stock clutch should last much much longer than that.

I don't disagree, i was pretty pissed to find out that I'd need a replacement already. It's pretty ridiculous, the lesson I got out of it was buy a better clutch. I don't ride the clutch, i shift fast and i don't ever race

clutch for some will last the lifetime of the car....... and some will go through it like no tom......... but personally, i think at 36K and you beed a new clutch, either it's defective or your driving is.... either bit@h at the dealer for a new one, or relearn how to drive manual......carzy to put out $1K for a new clutch every 36K miles.......

when i had my 2000 Maxima and did a clutch job at around 85,000miles(i put in a new clutch because I was installing a NOS system so go figure), the clutch was still good. i'd say it was showing about 65-70% wear and that's with pretty aggressive driving(drag&road course)....so if you're babying your car, i just don't see how the clutch can wear down so much with only 36k miles.
