GrandSport Group Track Day

So we've seen some interest in getting out on the track for a day so everyone can really feel their car pushed to the limit. Here's the track we're thinking about http://www.grandsportspeedway.com/. Check youtube to see some laps of the track.

Their GrooveUnion HPDE events are $225 for novices, and $175 for each following event. So given enough interest, I'm sure a few guys could go out there and get a pretty good group deal. It's a great track, freshly paved - but there's no facilities...yet. The track seems to be struggling for people, and I'm sure they'd love to have us come out as a group and give them some good business. I don't want to waste their time if we can't get enough serious interest - lot's of people talk, but I'm looking for people who actually will go out and do the event.

So let's talk it out here and figure it out. Start a list if you're seriuosly interested - I'm thinking mid-August. Perhaps rent the track from them for a good deal during the week, it'll be cheaper if everyone can get off work or something.

Here are some more details.
Weekday rate is $1750
Ambulance is $75 hour
Instructors are $200 for the day
Helmets are $10/person for the day

All cars on the track must be in good repair with good tires and must not leak oil.
Other than that they should be good to go!
The only C&C feature is a porta-potty. We will have to bring our own pop-up canopies for shade. Pretty much any day in August is available right now.

Let's get this ball rolling.

I'm definitely interested. It is cheaper during the week and I'm 100% fine with that.

Possibly. need date info and such.. lots going on for me in August, so it'll be hard to get a day off without plenty of early notice.

About Grandsport - I'm leaving for Colorado Sunday but obviously I'll have my laptop and I'll call Grandsport and try and figure out what kind of dates/prices/etc we can do.

^you got PM
it's at a&m saturday and sunday

back on topic - GrandSport is yet to refund me $45 they owe me (2+ weeks) but the guy has been attentive and says they're in Canada doing a driving school or something now so I'll just take his word for it - I sent him am email saying I would hope something like failing to refund me money they owe me wouldn't keep me from coming back to his events.

If they don't end up getting me my refund, we'll look at other tracks. But for now I'll look to GrandSport closest. It seems like if we can get a date good for everyone we could easily get 5 or 6 people, plus more if anyone from 350z or g37 sees my post and comes over.

I'll keep y'all updated (yeehaw)

email I received from the GrandSport guy - don't seem like they wanna help us out on pricing - even just to come out to one of their preset Groove Union events

Hi Ajay

I am putting that refund through today.

As for your other question about a track day:

We can rent you the track. The track on a weekend day is $2000 or $1750 for weekdays. These are summer rates only. You will also require an ambulance at $75 per hour plus at least one instructor for $200 for the day.

Alternatively you could invite all your friends out to a Groove Union. Depending on there experience the prices would range from $220 to $270 per person for the day. If you have any other questions please email or give me a call.

Kindest Regards
David

I responded that MSR Houston has done group events for $150 and that I would hope they'd help us out on price if we came as a group. Mike is going to contact MSR to find out details from them. Groove Unions are 175 to 225, I think he's adding in the $45 for a membership - although I would recommend go buy an SCCA membership and you're allowed to use that.

If he doesn't help us out on price - it's looking like close to 300 for guys who haven't tracked before and don't have a helmet, OUCH.... I'll try and haggle with him

I think if we do the regular track rental, we could get it down to under $150/person if we can get 15 solid entries. That would certainly be cheaper than the GU events. I'll check with MSR in the a.m. to see what they can offer us.
