Can you vote on one of these three tires.

I have narrowed down my choice for my replacement tires for my 07 G35x. the finalists are. General Exclaim UHP------Kumho Ecsta ASX--------Yokohama S.drive

My first choice is the Yokohama S drive it is the most expensive but seems the best of the three. The General has great reviews, but I don't know much about general, and would prefer sticking to a brand name. The Kumho are a great price.

I just want to know what you think. Please don't advise me on a different tire, just one of the three I mention. I am looking for something that will corner great, keep the car stable and is pretty quite. Treadwear is important, but all tires are made to wear out.

WHAT DO YOU THINK???????

I would go with the Generals mainly for the great reviews from Tirerack and the price. The tread rating is the highest I believe as well...have you read the real world testing they conducted as well with all three tires?

I'm not going to vote because I don't know those tires specifically. But I will comment on the brand names of kumho and yokohama. I had an FX and went through 3 different tire sets from those two manufacturers.

Here are my ratings as follow. Maybe you can make a decision with the help of these ratings I'll give you from my experience.

Yokohama geolander g052

performance dry: 4/5
performance wet: 4/5
Treadwear: 3/5
Noise: 2/5
Looks: 4/5

Yokohama Avid V4s

Performance dry: 5/5
performance wet: 3/5
Treadwear: 2/5
Noise: 2/5
Looks: 5/5

Kumho Ecsta (can't remember the model but there is only one for the FX available)

Performance dry: 5/5
performance wet: 4/5
Treadwear: 3/5
Noise: 3/5
Looks: 2/5

Like I said I can't comment on those tires specifically for the g35 but this can maybe help you understand the brands a little bit better.

Just to add to the confusion... Have you considered the Falken ZE-912? Consumer reports listed them as the top high performance all season radial. I've got a set of 18" G37 wheels that will be wrapped in Ze-912's once I wear out the OEM Bridgestones.

Just go off the real-world advice from Tirerack. You can't go wrong with any of the above choices as I said earlier.

I have no experience with the generals but Yokohama is a great brand and has yet to give me a bad experience with their tires. Nothing short of incredible. IMO you can't go wrong with them.

And watch out for the user comments on those tires on tirerack. You have no idea what their expectations are, what they are comparing those tires too, what their real conditions are in their area and how they really drive compared to you. I mean use it to help guide you and get a general consensus on the tire bu let them drive your decision.

Tire Choices

I too am in the market for new tires, I've narrowed my choices down to the following three tires.

General Exclaim UHP
Yokohama S.drive
Bridgestone RE760 Sport

Currently I'm leaning toward the Bridgestone since they're a top tier brand of tires and I already have experience with their RE050A.

Of the three tires from your list, the Yokohama S.drive would be my 1st choice.
The General Exclaim would be my second choice based upon the amount of mileage on tireracks reviews.

Thanks alot I think I am going to go with the yokahama's. My opinion on Brigstones the factory tire for the sport model. I know TOP GEAR a british car show foun that cars with brigstones run slower then cars with other tires such as pirelli's They use firarri as an example. and they consistant had slower times with brigestones, since then, I will never consider brigestones.

I know this isn't exactly what you were asking, and I don't mean to cast doubts on your decision, but a friend of mine just put YK520s on his coupe and he was very unhappy with them. He found that they had insufficient traction in the rear despite the tread life and other favorable qualities. Now I realize that the s.drives and the yk520s are completely different tires so I recognize this is anecdotal at best. Never the less, here is some more information regarding his experience:

I was going to get s.drives for my sedan but his experience made me question the yokohama line all together.

Good luck

That's interesting because I've had just the opposite experience with the Yokohama line. But then again the tires I've had were meant for sporty SUV's. Maybe their car tires aren't so fabulous although I can't imagine it would be so different from the SUV tires.

So you're going to discount Bridgestone's altogether because of one review? There are obviously different tires within each brand, but if that's your reasoning to not choose a maker of tires then I can't offer any help...
