I just had mine come on today while driving & when I sut it off they were not there on start up & then they came back. It started with all 3 lights on VDC, SLip, & Brake warning, then after my next start up just the slip & VDC light. I guess I will check the pads but my 05X only has 27000km (16,000 miles) on it.
Can the pads be gone already? That sucks if it is.

There is also a reclibration that can be done for your VDC tied into your alignment. I think your problem is low brake fluid or more likely low pads left.

[ FYI - Same issue covered earlier in this forum, thread titled "VDC and Slip Light" started 7/24/2007 by Importroller.]
Just encountered this problem, once the lights all lit up they wouldn't go off unless/until I stopped and re-started the car, then they stayed off when driven gently, but hard driving caused them to light up the board again!
Brake fluid was low, topped it off and no more problems. Obviously, if the brake fluid is low, then the pads are worn (unless there is a fluid leak, which would be immediately evident and end in probable sheetmetal damage to the G), so I'll be replacing them soon, I guess.
NOTE: Haven't seen anybody mention this yet, but I noticed that when all the lights lit up (VDC/SLIP/BRAKE), the VDC system was also disabled, at least in my '04 6MT. The tires could be spun at will, and you can also spin the car out quickly and easily (man, the "G" does love to rotate at the slightest provocation when the VDC is off - great for drifting if you are experienced and prepared for it, scary, embarrasing, and potentially fatal if you're not). This can be a real problem if you drive the car hard and expect the VDC "nanny" to keep you out of trouble. In line with this, a review of Importroller's earlier thread reveals that the first time this happened to him (VDC/SLIP/BRAKE lights come on), he spun his car out immediately. Just wanted to warn the unsuspecting.
