The only thing the same about your 03 trans to say an 05 is the case thats it thats all, everything inside is differant and some outside like the bracket for the shifter it has differant bushings in it now. The long and short of it you need a new trans, if your out of powertrain warranty they can be had for not much money on ebay or craigslist check around.

The thing you must understand is Nissan /Infiniti treats problems with brand new purchasers differently from problems which occur when the vehicle has gone/passed thru 2 or 3 owners. The new car purchaser is their only REAL customer especially when noise not a total failure has occurred.
A total failure will be covered up to the day of warranty expiration but noise is quite another thing for the USED CAR Buyer.
Especially since used buyers are supposed to pay for detailed prebuy inspections by certified/qualified experts not just randomly buy any old used car that looks pretty....................AS IS is often as is even with a warranty against total component failure.
