Installing UTEC & MAP sensor tonight

I have a base map for a similary setup I obtained from another forum member. Should I have this loaded up first before starting the car? Or should I just start from scratch?

mods:

Vortech 3.12 pulley
440cc injectors
Skunk2 spacer
Fuji exhaust

(removed my test pipes last night which had cracked...sounded like shiatsu)

I *think* you should load the map prior to starting the car. . .although IIRC, does the ECU still control idle, etc while the UTEC doesn't really kick in until the conditions demand? If that were the case, you may not need a "tuned" map if you don't bring the car above idle. . .

I need to brush up. . .and I'm sure you're gonna get bombarded form me with questions when my install FINALLY starts!

The UTEC doesn't take over any maps (fuel/timing) until the preset threshold which is usually around 50% throttle and a certain rpm (i.e. 3k). You can change that, but in your case to just drive your car around and start it up you are ok with out changing anything. Just don't go past 50% throttle and you should be fine.

Sweet. . .that's the info I was remembering incorrectly. Thanks for clarifying!
