I just read the details in the link - it says "comes with general wiring harness" - vehicle specific is also available... does the "general harness" work for the G sedan, or do I need to buy "vehicle specific harness"?...

that quote used to give a broad & brief summary of the DLI-II in general. it means that the basic DLI-II comes w/a general wiring harness for most applications BUT there are ALSO vehc spec for certain apps. the G35 is one of those apps, so it comes w/the spec harness... cool? i ordered it from there and it came quick w/everything i needed.

I've been on the fence for this for awhile.

I dunno if its really worth the money and I'm not a fan of how it mounts and looks in the engine bay. Id get the hks over pulse plugs or okada coils though.

I'm still confused and what this really does and how it does it. Its basically multiplying the spark for a more complete burn?

Does this actually show power increase or just "smoother" powerband? What does that mean?

Is it safe to amplify spark ignition?

Does it drain battery power?

It's an amplifier. It hooks inline to the existig system. So, the exisitng signals get boosted, the plugs get more energy, hotter more complete spark, better burn, more power, smoother acceleration, etc.

The average stock car sees about 5HP from this...with a tune, more is capable. The bottom line - anything spark related is made better, more stable and controllable. So timing, a/f tuning, throttle response...all of it.

Is it not possible for damage to occur to the factory coils as a result of 2-3x amplification?

john - I was reading this thread yesterday:
http://www.my350z.com/forum/showthre...power+ignition

Kinda informative... I'm still researching. Funny how we always consider and do the same mods at the same time (copy-catter ) Good thing you are MT – otherwise you would be doing VB & TC like my next mod

lol

great thread link btw! Thx for posting it up.

Personally, I think I'm going to wait to do an ingition upgrade if/when I go F/I, and I'd probably opt for the okada coils if I do.

Simple to measure the output voltage of oem coil under acceleration with and without the snake oil add ons................yet they never provide real world graphs or scientific proof just marketing and sales WORDS.

Even a jeeped up false dyno chart would be better than nothing.

I was wondering this also.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this. Anybody running an HFC ignition amplifier have any trouble with coils?

From my understanding, the coils are only producing spark based on the voltage they are given to begin with, and have the ability to put out more, reliably. All the HKS unit is doing is putting more through them, that they can handle. I've never heard of anyone burning out coils from one of these...I never did when I had mine.

anyone else? Actaully, the only time I have heard about it was before they came out with the vehicle specific harness.
