Car died today...
My 2003 First gen g35 sedan died today. Here are the symptoms
- started normally
- drove normally up to and just past a stop sign down the street
- then noticed gradual slowing, then no response to accelerator, then engine gone, and no power steering. It seems like the whole panel lit up.
- I managed to restart and drive maybe 20 feet or so before above repeating
- probably 4 or 5 episodes of this before making it (barely) to stop across the street from our house
- able to restart and pull into driveway
- seems like it will restart after leaving rest for 15 mins or so
I have read about the camshaft position sensor going bad...any idea if it would be this?
Please help!
I had the same issue a few days ago, and the check engine light was on.

I recently washed the engine bay by the way, I didn't spray it or anything I used a damp rag. My concern is that water may have dripped down on to the spark plugs from the plenum. Any other ideas?
Just played with it a bit more, it starts up well and immediately when I have left it for a while. It hasnt quit while just idling and revving in park.
The exhaust smells different, but it could just be because of the new HFCs.

superchargedg, good call :P
the throttle body needs to be replaced, there was also a code for a burnt O2 sensor or something, as well as a code relating to the voltage on the actual check engine light :S
They are going to replace the throttle body, do a reset, all that jazz. Then well see if any codes remain.

Yes they replaced the throttle body, but Im not sure that was the issue. See I was driving home and then it died again. After I called the tow truck, I opened the hood and checked everything like before, but this time I took off the engine cover (I have a 350Z engine cover so there are no vacuum hose connections hidden by the it). To my surprise, one of the bolts on the engine grounding wire was fairly loose. I am guessing that I didnt tighten it enough last time and it has slowly become looser and looser. If you get this problem, CHECK YOUR GROUNDING WIRES! I tightened it up and it was beautiful after.
