Running rich is good???

So my cousin just got a cob access port for his 350z.

He dl'ed the maps that were already provided with the access port for his car.

He put on the stage 2 + and now his fuel ratios are always around 9ish...

I told him that it wasnt good since it should be around 12-13ish for a NA vehicle. His current mods are everything but headers (JWT intake, MD 5/16th spacer, TP, and Borla CBE)

Would running this rich do any good for him? Any benefits? Loss of power?

He will get horrible gas mileage, foul his spark plugs, possibly wash out the rings, and have a very stinky car with lots of soot out the back.

Seriously, 9:1 is retarded rich

I believe that the Cobb units can help with the electronic throttle restriction similar to how Uprev does, if so then he's right it will feel faster, but not because of the AFR's.. It's because his throttle was never even opening 100% before.

Someone needs to let him try out an Uprev reflash, he'll really s@@t himself

I have a custom Uprev Osiris tune on my G35. Our cars are always neck to neck but I always get him on a roll or launch in the beginning. But his third gear is potent. It always seems to start inching on me once we get into third.

My mods are JWT intake with a Stillen box, z-tube, 5/16th ISO-therm spacer, ART pipes, TDX V2 exhaust, and a transgo vb upgrade.

His mods are similar but with just the JWT intake, 5/16th spacer, Topspeed TP, and a Borla exhaust.

Im wondering why his third gear pulls so much better than mine? Or is it just bc the weight difference between my coupe and his z?

You really can't tell without knowing how you're both running.. is he 6MT or AT as well? Also what year?

There's so many different factors that come into play when racing its difficult to tell... but if you want to try and convert him to the uprev side let me know. If you get me the ecu # and such I can make you a base tune and send you rom files for his ecu so you could "borrow" him your osiris license and let him try out the tune with no money out of pocket

Ah, gotcha. No bueno then, lol. You wouldn't need the tuner software, I could just send you a base tune to flash onto his ECU along with the back to stock rom to take it back off if you found out the ecu #, but without the cable its a no go
