Went to PSI today... (this is my racing shop)... I sat down with the tuner. We have been stuck with the ECU for about a month. It communicates with the scan tool but not the uprev tool. It loads then gets to a point and says CAN ERROR then locks the system and your done... Out of the system..... So they ordered a different ECU and were going to wire that one in.... Well they work on many cars and had a Twin Turbo G37 that the owner accidentally fried something in the ECU and they had to get a different ECU and patch it in. He went to DEQ and the Vin number is locked into the ECU so he failed the DEQ because the OBD2 and the Vin on the car didnt match so they didnt want to patch in my new ECU for this reason. While we were talking I said the car was a 2003. The tuner looked at me and said repeat that. I said the car is a 2003.5-2004.... He said the CAN pins need to be re routed on those cars and the Nissan Sentras and that was the issue... EASY SOLUTION!!!!! Hope thats it if so should be TUNED THIS WEEK!!!!!

 

Yes it's in the Uprev instructions that 03's with a pin in a certain place in the can plug need to pull 1 pin out and place it in another place.. I had to do the same thing. takes all of 10 min.

 

Lol PSI fails again. Its extremely common knowledge among tuners that you have to repin the OBD2 plug on the 03's... Even if you didn't specifically tell him he should have known just by looking at the ROM that he was trying to load it was an 03. Its one of those things you always check on the matrix before you try and reflash... I honestly cannot believe they had your car down for a month because of this.

 

No.... They are doing lots of other things at the same time. But its been a hang up for a bit. They were talking with Uprev and a few other things... BUT the car comes up as a 2004 on anything you check it on UNLESS you do a VIN check then its a 03. Jason tried it once and nothing would read at all... Someone had hardwired something into the CAN wires... (I am thinking it was a previous shop)... Nothing would talk to it because of that. They undid that one and then were tackling this... My car I know is not an easy one to work with because of how many mods are into the car and its switched shops 3 or 4 times in its life.... So its frustrating but I am understanding it all.

 

I personally didnt know it needed a RePin but the second I said it was a 03 he knew right away what was going on. They also had a issue with a G37 that fried its ECU so they held off on mine until the figured that one out... Which I understand. I have not driven my car in 3 years whats another few weeks.
