OKC roadcourse events! *POSTPONED to June 22nd*

****This event is postponed until June 22nd***********
Unfortunately the track will be under maintenance and somehow they managed to forget to notify us. The 22nd is a secured date and is also a sunday. If there is a silver lining, I guess it will be that we may get to play on a fresh surface. I apologize for the confusion and late news, you can't imagine my level of frustration when I learned of it this morning on the telephone just 3 days prior.
***********************************************

Hello all, I posted this on the Oklahoma Z Car Club's own website, but I am not sure if it is appropriate to link it here after reading the forum rules. Anyway for those of you who don't know me, I am the club president here in OKC and we are really looking to make our club more event-centric for OKC and I felt this was the best way to bring as many G-coupe drivers into the mix, so I here's what I've got this spring/summer....

I have reserved the Sheriff Dept's driver training track for use on the following dates:

Sunday, May 18 >>>>POSTPONED to June 22nd--8AM
Sunday, July 20--8AM
Sunday, Sept 7--8AM

The cost will be **$25** per car. There is a maximum of 25 slots available. I have personally paid the insurance so this event is going to happen.

This track is a lot of fun and is fast enough to let you explore the capabilites of your car but is not fast enough to be dangerous or risky. Everyone is encouraged to attend and Z club membership is not required, as the ultimate goal is to have fun on Sunday morning in our cars.

Here is a bird's eye view of the track layout. There will be cones in place creating "gates" or chicanes in the long straight sections which you will have to negotiate, in effect slowing down what you can see would otherwise be a very fast track. Trust me when I say this is for the best, as there are a few areas that simply do not have the runoff to support the higher speeds.

I plan to open the gate up at 8 AM and depending on the size of the group we will likely wrap up the lapping around 11AM-1PM. You will need to bring a helmet, and I highly recommend checking your brake pads and changing if necessary, flushing your brake fluid and your engine coolant PRIOR to arriving. There will not be an area for doing this on location. I also recommend bringing along some lawn chairs, umbrellas/tents, and maybe a cooler with some snacks and drinks (absolutely no alcohol). There are restroom facilities a short walk from the track, but aside from that the venue is very spartan, if you bring nothing you will be sitting either in your car or on the tarmac, which will suck come July.

**To reserve a slot in these events, please send me a message through this forum (or email me directly if you already have my address). Be sure to include your name, type of car, and date(s) for which you wish to attend. The $25 fee can be paid at the event. Please, the slots are limited to 25 total, so only contact me if you are sure you can attend and I will keep a slot for you, otherwise it is 1st come 1st serve basis**

Thanks and I look forward to seeing more G's at our events.

LJ

PS....If I do not get back to you immediately, please be patient with me. Active duty USAF sometimes means I go out of town for a week and do not have internet access. I typically am not out of contact for more than a week. Other OKZCC officers are always available at our club forum

Great! Shoot me your info in an email and I will let you know how to sign up for a slot. If roadcourse events are your thing you should consider Midwest Z Fest, which will be held at the end of this summer in Tulsa/Jenks. We will have a full day at Hallett Racing Circuit, which is an absolute MUST do for any Oklahoma motorsport enthusiast. Our guy heading up the event is actually from Tulsa as are most of the planning committee aside from myself and our fabulous event planner from Choctaw!

Hello, I'm new here but i've been a member over at myg37.com for a while now. Since it seems like i am still the only Oklahoma member over there i thought I'd check out what was going on at some of the other sites. I've got an 08 Platinum Graphite G37 5AT with the sport package am really interested in attending one of these events. I dont think i'll be able to make it to the May 18th one cause I might be doing an AutoX at Remington Park that day, but i'd like to try the one in July if its OK.

Absolutely, please PM me your name, contact #, and car so I can more easily keep track of who has made plans to come and wants a slot reserved for them. I look forward to seeing you out there!

PS...a group of us are headed to the dragstrip this sunday as well, it'd be great to have you join us. Check the thread here for the details.

Well I'm still not totally for sure if I'll be able to come to one of these. I'd really like to go on the 18th but I'm a senior in high school and have graduation that weekend. Plus I'm not sure if my dad will let me go or not, but he did seem pretty interested in the AutoX thing so you never know. I'll go ahead and send you a PM with my name and a little more contact info.

Also got a few questions.
I've never done anything like this before and don't have a helmet, so do i need to buy one or would i be able to rent or borrow one from some where?

I am still interested in coming, I will talk with my friends tonight to see if they want to come. We might be going to an autoX instead. I am assuming you guys try to keep it strickly G's and Z's, i've got a friend with a new accord v6 coupe and he really wants to run it somewhere but i told him i didn't know if he'd be able to cause its probably a G/Z only thing.
