But if anyone else is 100% sure they're getting their kit soon, then by all means take it.

Nice pic btw, that's a big intercooler!
I think the kit has to have a retail value of $4K IIRC. Definitely let me know and I'll get the coupon to you.

He didnt HAVE to do anything. He chose to enter in the FREE raffle, he chose to drive to Long Beach...so morrally and ethically making a profit off of something that was given away is wrong.

Its like charging a reward for finding someones dog. lol

exactly that what i was talking about, he didnt have to do anything and he would get nothing, nada yada. in this case, he did and won, and eared it, so y couldn't he do whatever he want with his prize?

it's like i go to the mall, enter a giveaway to win a car and somehow i win it. now i currently have 3 cars, so abviously i dont need the car that i won, that's mean i have to give it away according to you? and if i sell it, that is a wrong thing to do?

we're not talking about a car or dogs for that matter...yeah he can do what he wants with the certificate but I would suggest not on this forum. Him trying to make a profit off of what the people who put this whole thing together is a slap in the face to them.

/argument

so since I won the raffle at a g35 meet that alone makes it wrong to sell it?

there is nothing wrong for selling a MY prize that I won. I supported the sedan meet by representing and just so happen to win a prize. Now I offered that prize to anyone at a price, if anyone wanted it. I actually had a few takers that were willing to pay me cash, so I took it.

That's business! Now I can use those funds to help support my modding and represent the sedans again next year.

I did not take away from the vendor themselves. The only person to actually lose money will be the person who purchased it. they wont be getting the full amount of the coupon, but they still save from getting it from me. Unfortunate for them they didn't win it.

kinda like buying a coupon book for 20.00 but end up saving over hundreds at stores. or winning Laker tickets from a radio show and selling them after. We've all done that in some way or another. So accusing someone that what they did is wrong... Is wrong on your part.

And this is why raffles have rules.
If stuff like this is going to be a problem, vendors need to say their prizes are "non transferable"
Moral implications aside, if the prize isn't "non-transferable" then there's nothing legally wrong with selling it. Not saying I approve or disapprove, just making an observation.

That is true, this is a moral issue, not a legal issue.
I think most of us agree that we were doing this to help the community. When someone decides to be greedy it takes away from what we were trying to do.

Oh well, to each their own.

IIRC, this is how the prizes & gift certificates were handled at the Beshoff meet. Your name is on the cert, so at the very least, you have to be the one to buy the item with the certificate before 'selling' it to someone else.

My opinion is its weak to sell a prize you win at stuff like this. I put it on par with the non G owners who crashed the Huntington Beach raffle a few years back, won a bunch of stuff, then trashed/sold it online. This isn't a car raffle where you trade your personal information for a shot at getting a free Ford Focus, and it isn't a raffle where you have to pay anything to participate. Its a small event designed to bring together G/Z enthusiasts and strengthen the community. If you win a prize that you're not going to use then put it back in the raffle so another community member can enjoy it.

If that helps you sleep at night, go for it. I think it is absolute greed and disrespectful to slap the vendors in the face like that. Many of us, especially Marcus and Chris spent a ton of time putting this together. What do they get??? nothing... They do it to help better the VQ family on here. When you do something like that, you do the exact opposite.

Please do not enter the next raffle.

I will definitely seriously consider coming to Cali next year for this. Now I've just gotta think of a few more "cool" mods to do between now and then.
