Using the compact flash option

There is other information on this topic, although I did not find it easy to locate. Since I use a Mac OS X operating system, I thought it might assist a few of the non-Windows G35 owners if I detail what I did:

Use a 2GB Compact Flash card.

Set up an orderly file system to catalog the music files. MP3 will play on the Infiniti system (I do not know what other formats are compatible, it's probably in the manual) and it makes life a lot easier to create a folder for each artist. Within each folder, if you take the time to make sure the tracks each have some detail, this will be picked up in the car's system later.

I am perhaps too much of a "detail person" but made a folder containing all the music folders to be uploaded to the card, making sure that the total data did not exceed the 2 GB limit. It varies, of course (depending on the tracks) however you should get about 250 tracks on a 2GB card.

Drag and Drop the folders to the blank Compact Flash card, an error message will be displayed if you try and load too much data on the card. Test the files by playing a couple of them on your computer so you know they work before you get to the car.

With the touch of a midwife, pry off the Compact Flash cover on the dashboard and gently insert the card. Check first that you are loading the side with the inserts (duh) and that you don't force the card in. It feels right when properly inserted although a little resistance will be felt... hence the being delicate part.

With the ignition on, use the AUX button and scroll until you get to Compact Flash reader. If it is located properly, the reader will quickly scan the contents of the card and show you the menu of the separate folders you transferred from the computer. You travel up and down those folders using the up/down functions on the nav display. Within the folders themselves, you can see the tracks (one at a time) up and down, using the track change button on the music control panel.

If you don't bother to spend the ten or so minutes organizing the folders before you download from your computer to the card, I believe there will just be a list of more than 200 tracks in no particular order.
