ipod integration working properly?

When I park my car overnight, or at work, I leave my iPod connected and just turn the car off and go inside.

Sometimes when I return to the car it will be playing XM or a CD, then a few minutes into my commute switch over to the ipod source but not play anything.

I have to go down into the view of the ipod controller that doesn't have my climate control settings and select a playlist to get it to start playing something again.

Is this normal? Am I supposed to disconnect and turn off the iPod when I go inside? I'm just tired of listening to a good song on XM or CD then have the iPod just pop up out of no where and have to navigate down into it to start playing a song.

I have mine pulgged in overnight and it comes back on immediately when I start the car, playing where it left off. Sounds like yours is shutting down completely, then once it powers back up it takes over again. I suspect it has more to do with the iPod than the integration. Mine is one of the old, old ones that has the small monochrome screens, so it does a few things differently than the newer models.

yea, mine's an old mini that died for a while but i wiped it and it is working again.

does the ipod stay on while the car is off, thus draining the battery till it's turned back on.

mine does, but the ipod remains on in pause mode - not playing. the screen stays on and the ipod battery slowly drains. when i turn off my car, i now turn the ipod off manually (but still connected to the car's cable).

my ipod is a 4th gen 60gb ipod photo.

Guys, I think the OP's car is the 08 model with INTEGRATED IPOD control. I know when I put the iPod thorough my 07's AUX port, it'd still run even if I turn off the engine... Well, I only use CF card now anyway...
