Ipod to RCA input?

I recently got an 08 g35x sedan journey. i just noticed that it doesnt have the ipod interface. so my question is, anyone here in the same boat as i am and connected their ipod to the rca input? if you have, how is the sound and does anything come up on the screen or do you just control the ipod on the ipod iself? secondly, my car came with the basic rear-view mirror and it really sucks. im used to the auto-dimming mirrors. has anyone upgraded to the auto-dimming rear-view mirror from the basic one? Thanks in advance for your help.

Huh.....I thought the Ipod interface was standard on all G's. Didn't realize it was tied to the Premium package.

To answer your question, yes you have to control the Ipod from the unit itself. No song information will show up on the screen.

Upgrading the rearview mirror shouldn't be too hard. The only thing difficult about it is locating a power source to tap into.

I just bought my g and havent had much time to play around with it. So if you wouldnt mind telling me where you are supposed to be able to hook up the ipod to the head unit that would be great.

I hope that the power source for the mirror is already there. when driving at night and someones lights are in my eyes and i adjust the mirror i see double of everything and its kind of annoying.

its in the center console, where you rest your right elbow. when you open it is right next to the power outlet.

It might be. People have found that a lot of the wiring is the same regardless of if you have a feature or not (i.e. unused connectors just sitting there taped up). If not, you should be able to tap into one of the lights in the overhead console easy enough.

when you say journey... which kinda confusing coz that refers to non X.... so do you have the X or not.....I have the X with premium and navigation and it comes with the ipod... you can easily see the list on infiniti website. 08s r supposed to come with ipod just not sure in all trims or just premium.... its supposed to be beside the rca input btw and theres a cover your need to flip open..

my friend... theres no such thing.. you are using the wrong terminology and such.. stop.. thank you...

http://www.infiniti.com/g_sedan/models.html

Just use the correct name and terms You have the basic X.. thats it...

If you look at here:

http://www.infiniti.com/g_sedan/stan...re_Specs.Link1

You can see that the most basic G35 is such that you canot even have options of certain things... most people do not get that.

The normal G35 Journey has access to all the same options the X has.. except AWD... theres only 1 things extra that the X has thats standard that the basic journey has as an option, heated front seats.

ok ? its very simple.. nothing confusing or complicated...

You have the basic X w/o the premium package. Do you have lumbar support for the drivers seat?

Premium gives you:

Power sliding tinted glass moonroof with one-touch open/close, tilt feature and sliding sunshade
• Infiniti Studio on Wheels™ by Bose® premium audio system with 24-bit Burr-Brown DAC, single-feed 6-disc CD autochanger with MP3 playback capability, Radio Data System (RDS), and ten speakers, including 3-way component front door speakers with 10-inch subwoofers and a parcel shelf-mounted subwoofer
• Interface System for iPod®
• Driver's Audio Stage
• Heated front seats
• 2-way power driver's seat lumbar support
• Memory system for driver's seat, steering wheel and outside mirrors
• Driver's seat, steering wheel and outside mirror position synchronization
• One-touch auto-up/down rear windows with safety auto-reverse feature
• Power tilt and telescoping steering column synchronizes gauge cluster with column for improved vision
• Automatic anti-glare rearview mirror with HomeLink® Universal Transceiver and compass (compass not included when combined with Navigation Package)
• Bluetooth® Hands-Free Phone System
• Heated outside mirrors
