Blackberry 8100 (Pearl) Bluetooth w/Nav
Blackberry 8100 (Pearl) Bluetooth w/Nav
I am new here and looking to buy my first G35 in a few months.
I checked the Infiniti bluetooth section on their website and it indicates that the BB8100 bluetooth works on models without the Nav unit but is not listed as working on cars with the Nav unit. The do also indicate that the BB8130 works on Nav unit vehicles.
I have searched the forums and found many people that get it working with their cars but none indicate if they have the Nav unit so I thought I would throw it out there.
Anyone have a BB8100 and a G35 with the Nav unit? Does the bluetooth work?
BTW, in the two days I have been reading these forums, I have learned a ton. So much, I may have to convince my wife to move our timetable up!

The Infiniti BT web site is a good starting point for finding compatibility, but real world input is best. I found however, that one of the phones listed (Motorola Q9M) actually has an issue with initially syncing, as confirmed by the BT helpdesk. I would find others who have had success with the prospective phone as a real test of compatibility - not just the ability to pair, but actually use the various functions.
I've tried just about every berry model out there including the 8100 and it works fine.
There were some older models (8700s and the like) that didn't want to play nice with the address book transfer, but chances are you won't want to use that anyway even if it works, since keeping things in sync is a mess.
So far I know everything from the 8700s to the 81xx, 83xx and 88xx from just about every carrier works with these cars.

A word of clarification on 'Works Fine' and what that means. In most cases it means that the phone pairs with the unit and in some cases you can transfer your address book (Cars with Navigation only). However, if your phone has voice dialing ability like many Windows Mobile and the BlackBerry 8310, that feature is disabled and you cannot use it. Nor can you voice dial from your transferred address book, only from the rudimentary tagged 40 entry address book that you must manually set up. You can't access your transferred phone book while the car is moving either. Finally, the transferred phonebook lacks important information such as whether a number is a cell, work or home number. Instead it just repeats the name with each different number. The BMW 325i phone system works much better. It always brings a fresh copy of your address book so no synching issues and you can voice dial and specify cell or work or home (it also displays the information). If someone has found a better way I would like to know it.
