Need help with stereo and back up camera
Hello everyone:
I just signed up for this website and I have a few questions.
I just bought a 2009 G37 Sedan (Regular) and would like to add the following items.
1. I have a stock stereo and would like to add a 10" sub in the back (already have a cutout), do I need to get an amp, or is there one already installed in the trunk?
2. I would like to add a back up camera and would like to know if it can be wired to the 7: display I already have. ( No navigation).
I would appreciate any help you guys can give me.
Thank you,

Thank you,
not to hack at you, but why didn't u get one with that stuff from the factory?
as for ur sub, you will need an amp.
for a back up camera, you can pump it thru the aux in, in the arm rest.
you will need to mess with the speed wire tho.

you dont want to put the sub in the cutout behind the head rest, it will rattle. as far as the backup camera goes there are a couple of options but none that will work the same as the factory camera
the other thing about the sub is that if you put a sub in the cutout it will need to be an open air sub, unless it's properly boxed up there, and open air subs aren't that great IMO. i did alot of research on this when i had my acura because the bose sub was also in the rear deck.
go with a separate box, it's well worth the loss in trunk space.
and yes, you can certainly add a backup camera to the non-nav display. it really isn't as hard as people would think. and i haven't personally done it but i have done enough reading up on it in the past week that i can see it looks daunting but really isn't. make sure you research it though here on the board. someone here added a garmin blackbox to the video display and uses it as his normal navigation.
i would recommend that you run the wires all at once though, makes life a little easier.

i believe you need the harddrive interface (comes with nav package) for the backup camera to work, also it is integrated into your steering to show you where your car is headed based on the angle of your wheels.

I know you don't need the hardrive interface because I have a backup on my 06Fx35 and there is no navigation. Just trying to understand. I will either get the stock spoiler with the camera or buy one of those license plate ones. Just want to make sure it will work on the screen.
I love infiniti but hate it at the same time.
The same luxuries that were on the sedans a few years ago you now have to pay extra for.

danield0303,
The trim levels have always been pretty consistent thru the years. There was always a base model and then premium models. You're pretty lucky with the G35, you can add the features you desire to the stock set-up thanks to the RCA inputs in the armrest. Some things will differ from the factory upgrades, but at the same time you can make it better. Here is an example of a NAV unit that can work thru your existing dash screen.

There is another similar post to add a back-up camera. (You'll need to search for it). He used the plate camera. I think he had to manually turn it on using the AUX button, but that also meant he could have it on without being in reverse. I'm not sure how you can integrate both of them since they both utilized the RCA inputs in the armrest.
PLENTY of options for a sub install. I think you can pull off an install on the rear deck like stock if you rattle proof your rear deck. You'll prob need to do it anyways even if you add a separate sub enclosure. Sub enclosure in the truck is prob the easiest and best solution though. You will need a sep. amplifier either way, but you can keep your stock head unit, just tap into the rear speaker wires to get your amplifier audio input.
i have the BOSE system, and the rear deck sub does nothing at all. The rear speakers are fairly weak too, most of the sound and bass is produced via front speakers. The Nav, back-up camera, hard drive and adaptive cruise control were are all worthwhile options though.
Edit: One thing I just realized, I'm not sure if the 2009's still have the AUX RCA inputs in the armrest.

Thank for that Idea. I dont need the navigation but I will get the plate camera and install it to the RCA video output in the arm rest. How do I have the video play when the car is in drive or reverse. Where is the lockout?
I dont think you need to alter the screen lockout for reverse, I'm not sure though. (And yeah, we can't talk about that mod on the forum). You won't automatically get back-up camera when you put it in reverse, you have to physically push AUX and switch over to the RCA inputs. Someone else may have figured out a way to get around this to make it automatic, but without that you have to hit AUX.
that's correct, you would have to get some kind of interface or switch to automatically turn the aux input on.
you could always get a rearview mirror with a small lcd screen built in. personally i think that's what i would do. easier to install and serves the same purpose. of course it would cost more...
