Is Add-A-Fuse Available for the Low Profile Fuses in V36 Sedans?

i checked around on the boards and on google but i wasn't completely sure about this one....

the 08s and up (maybe the 07s, i don't know) use the ATM low-profile type fuses, which do have a slightly different shape and profile compared to the mini blade fuses.

the add-a-circuit/fuse kits that i have found were only for the mini blade fuses and larger, and they don't quite look like they would work for our cars. has anyone confirmed they fit properly and have good contact area? or is there a low profile kit available that i can't find?

i suppose i could just buy one at autozone and fine out but i'd rather not spend the money if i can't use it.

thanks in advance!

Bob

I had an extra one lying around from my Mom's civic so I test fit it. They do fit the fuse location but they are a little loose compared to the OEM fuse because they are much longer. I think it will work but you may have to check over time to see if they work their way out of the "socket". Maybe you could trim the legs a little to stabilize the part? You can see the marks left by the fuse socket on the standard mini fuse and the add-a-circuit legs. Electrically it works but the shear size of the mini fuse may make it fall out over time. Good luck.

thanks alot man! i really appreciate it.

the looseness could simply just be due to the thickness of the metal teeth/blades, which i would attribute to manufacturing tolerances but i'll have to take a look for myself.

i'm going to be installing a dimming mirror and would prefer to use the add a fuse instead of tapping wires. thanks again man.

I just wanted to alert the board that OptiFuse does make a low-profile mini add-a-fuse.

It is our P/N LPS-08. A data sheet can be downloaded using the following link:

I hope that this helps and I'm not abusing the board rules by promoting our products

not sure if it's abuse but i'm glad you posted it otherwise i wouldn't have bothered to look. the add-a-fuse i have installed makes me nervous because it simply doesn't fit properly.

I definitely appreciate the info regardless of your relationship with the manufacturer. It would have been frustrating if you said "I know who makes exactly what you need but I can't tell you the model, brand, or anything about it." That would have been pointless. You have stated the facts without bias which should be the intent of the rule.
