Confused on the iPod Integration

Hey guys,

I got a 2008 G35x with Prem and Navi packages.

I see RCA inputs and some pin connector under it and now I have a few question.

1. What cable do I use to listen to my iPod Touch? I've seen videos of the iPod being integrated with the LCD screen so you can control it from there. Yet I'm reading something that you cannot have that while driving? I'm so confused on this part.

2. What is the pin connector for?

3. If I get the A/V (RCA) cable, does the iPod charge while also playing music?

Sorry if this was in other posts but I searched it and I couldn't find much. As a matter of fact, I just became even more confused.

Thanks

-Kenny

I could not find the ipod dock cable online. I had to go to the dealer. The ipod cable cost me $57.

get the OEM iPod cable, its well worth the value. I believe the newer ones will charge your iPod touch......but its so much better because you can control everything from the cars headunit.

the A/V inputs will not charge

The Infiniti ipod cable does not support USB charging. It will only charge older firewire charging ipods. My 4th gen Nano plays fine but does not charge. I ordered a charge adapter to fix this problem. Ipod touch and iphones will also not charge.

I couldn't find it online except for on eBay, and it wasn't for a lack of trying. I went to the dealer and the cable ended up costing ~$33 before tax, which was cheaper than I could've gotten any of the cables off eBay once you factor in shipping cost.

Now I'm just trying to figure out a good way to browse through ~600 artists. Starting all the way back at the top of the alphabet when an album stops playing is very frustrating, as is the inability to quickly jump to a particular letter of the alphabet. Heck, I'd be happy if it let me jump to a group of letters like the phonebook interface does.

My dealer definitely marked up the price. Grubbs sells the cable for like $33 too.

I've been looking around in the iPod threads here but don't see if the OE cable was updated / changed?
(2008 premium, no nav)

With my iPhone 4 I get a message on the phone that the cable may not be right.
It does hook up & shows as an iPod on the HU screen, but I have no control.

I'm sure I've seen something about the cable being updated, but damned if I can find it.

The OEM cable will only charge via firewire charging. I have to use an adapter for USB charging. It is also not iPhone compatible.
