Factory hard drive and ipod interface

I searched here and myg37.com with no results. My 2008 came with Bose audio but no navigation, no hard drive/music box or ipod interface. I only have the A/V inputs. What i'm looking to do is install the factory 9.3GB hard disk / music box with ipod connectivity and interface. Has anyone done that before? I've seen a few people who use aftermarket ipod integration kits, is a full factory conversion not feasible? I looked in the FSM for diagrams but they don't have any pics or info on the factory ipod interface or connection. It only talks about the A/V inputs which I already have.

Also does anyone have pics of the factory ipod connectivity and the screen with the ipod connected? I can't seem to find much pics online.

so let's see if we can figure this out....

is the music box it's own head unit? i think you should be able to because it looks like you have all the necessary wiring, minus the ipod harnesses/nav dvd unit....but obviously we'd have to compare that to the other FSM diagrams....

That's what I don't know. the FSM makes little mention of the factory music box / hard drive. Do I have to have a navi screen and it's components to use the HD and ipod interface?

i thought that all that was done via the rotary wheel and what not that is already on the controls and the other buttons you already have. i highly doubt you would need a touchscreen...unless it's necessary to name songs you are ripping to the hard drive. this is a good question though....

the owner's manual should have a detailed section on how to operate the music box functions and ipod searching. if it says you can do it all via the existing buttons then you should be fine i would think.

The interface is definitely controlled using the wheel and it's buttons. Unfortunately the G's in the gulf area don't come with the music box hard drive so there's no mention of it in the owners manual. Basically all I want to know is what are all the parts needed to convert to the music box hard drive with ipod interface and connectivity in the center armrest

EDIT: So after reading some more, the Navi system actually uses the hard drive's memory (which is 30GB) and it takes about 2/3 of it (which leaves the 9.3GB for the music box). The music box is available without the navi, therefore no need for any navi related components or screen if I wanna swap to the factory hard drive. The 2010 models also no longer use the RCA but now have a USB port instead. I don't know how this will work out as I have an HKS CAMP 2 system waiting to be installed which uses the A/V inputs. I'm assuming the hard drive on the 2010 models is the same as 07-09 but I'm not 100% sure. Looking at infiniti's packaging options for the 2010 models, you can either get a 2GB music box with the technology package (no navi, touch screen or dvd play back. comes with bose audio) or get the 9.3GB music box with the navi package (includes navi, touch screen, dvd playback and voice recognition).

I have none of the options that come with the navi package but I do have the 10 speaker Bose system. There's no mention on whether the USB port comes with the 2GB hard drive or not. No mention of the card reader slot either so I'm assuming it was removed on the 2010 along with the A/V inputs.

Interested to see if this is possible. I'd love to install the HD and put some of my songs on there.
