iSimple Gateway vs Grom Audio

I have a 2007 g35x with nav and premium package.

I would like to be able to use my ipod through the headunit and have seen both of these devices as options.

Which one is the best? the iSimple appears to be 190 and the Grom 125.

For anyone that owns either of these how exactly do they work and would you recommend them?

I have tried to find videos of them in use on youtube but havent been able to find anything sadly.

hey nash, if you do a search under my name or just do a general search here you'll find many threads on this topic.

in my opinion the Grom is the way to go but i don't believe it works with the nav package and i don't believe the iSimple does either because they basically plug into the xm port and i think the nav has the xm built into the headunit, unlike the base model which has the xm module in the trunk. Dice also has something coming out so you might want to check that out too.

i had both and i think the iSimple is garbage for several reasons but alot of people seem to love it so you should try it and make your own opinion.

double check me on the iSimple/Grom websites though, i could be wrong.

Bob

search for me, I have a thread entirely dedicated to the Grom device. It's nice, IF you don't have a G with the XM tuner built into the head unit. IF you do, then you can't use the Grom (at least the last time I checked...)

I have iSimple and would go with Grom over this. Don't personally think it's "garbage" but it definitiely did not meet my expectations.

yeah i know i might take some flack for that but that's also why i kinda have the disclaimer that "everyone else loves it".

for me though that this was a nightmare. went through a bad unit, bad ipod connector, it attenuated the volume, there was no bass, it would mess up the titles on the screen whenever i went back to XM from the ipod and in the end the wiring harness for it behind the stereo messed up my steering wheel controls temporarily. nuff said for me.
