Installed new speakers - no bass!

Using the existing non-Bose HU, I removed the factory speakers and installed brand new Pioneer components in the front and 6.5" in the rear. I lost all of my bass that the stock speakers had produced. Any idea what happened, and how to get it back using the new speakers? I did not want to have to install an amp unless absolutely necessary, or a sub either for that matter. Thanks!

odd problem....have you checked the sound stage/enhancement settings in the audio menu on the stereo? what do you have the crossover set to? what source are you taking the music from? what is the resistance of the new speakers?

Just a note that component speakers typically won't have the same bass output as the OEM speaker. You can try playing around with the filters on the crossover to see if that helps, but the bass won't match the factory speakers. Hence the reason when people get component speakers, they typically get a sub as well.
