temporary sub set up

After doing a full sound upgrade a few months ago, my bass was seriously lacking.. This summer I am working at a car audio shop and will be doing a full trunk build (molded) and JL set up.. But I couldn't wait till then.. Here is my temporary set up.. The Pac control will stay the same.. All these pics were taken on my brand new DROID X ... HUGE UPGRADE FROM THE ORIGINAL DROID!!!! and I know I need a new shift ****.. I had a razo one but it caused a big fiasco in my family hahaha and a new OEM one from the dealer is $300+

wow the trunk is nearly useless with this big box lol. but gets the job done i guess. Anyways cant wait to see your custom molded audio upgrade since it is pretty rare in the 2nd gen sedans.

Yeah I know haha. Im pretty picky on sound and even though the base with this is not as tight as I would like (ported) its pretty clean for such a cheap woofer. The only reason I did this was because I got the sub, box, amp, and LOC for $100 from the place im going to be working. The JL equipment I am actually getting for free (a guy who goes to the shop just replaced his setup with 4 L7s.. HAHAH but its his 5th car so he doesn't need the back half of it I guess and he gave me his two 10" w3s) When I do it, I should only have to pay for OEM carpet.. Other than that I am getting a free shop to work in and materials.. I need to practice glassing lol.. Im not sure if im going to build one box facing back or 2 (one on each side)

IMO the box you have takes up a lot of already limited trunk space. My 10' kicker sub is in a much smaller (depth wise - probably less than 1/2 of your box) and it gets the job done - in fact, more bass than I can handle and sound is pretty clean. Initially I asked the installer to have a free-air installation to save trunk space but then thought it would not sound nearly as well. However, if you are doing a full trunk job this may not matter.

Re. shift ****, unless you're thinking of upgrading to M45 or a custom ****, there is a DYI thread on the site which states how to brush it down with a scotch brite pad and then repaint it with clearcoat. It will look as good as new and the finish won't scratch as badly due to the layer of clearcoat. Mine looks 100x worse than yours with finish clean stripped off down the middle and sides (looks hideous).

yeah i have a huge sub in my trunk so i need to scale down to a bazooka tube or something because i value my trunk space waaaay too much. when i had my acura tl the trunk space wasn't an issue, sigh....that's one thing i really miss.

yeah to be fair the only time i've used the *whole* trunk was last summer when i was heading to foxwoods casino with my ex, her sister and her brother in law, i had 4 regular sized suitcases in the trunk plus two totebags and two pillows they brought. i was surprised i was actually able to fit so much in there, but maybe that's a byproduct of being so good at tetris when i got my gameboy in the 80s.....
