OEM Sat or iSimple?? Please Help!

I have read through many of the posts here about OEM satellite radio receiver and the iSimple adaptor kit.

I don't know which would be a better option. I have a 2007 G35s Sedan and I do listen to my ipod/iphone through the auxillary input.

These are the two I am contemplating:

or

What do you guys think I should get?

go for the factory kit, hands down. personally i dont think the iSimple sound quality was not good enough for constant listening (and i'd assume you'd listen to the xm more than the ipod) and i'd think you'll regret it later if you're running your sat radio and ipod through the iSimple. this is merely my opinion though.

if sirius radio is a must for you then the iSimple is really your only option though, if you want xm go factory.

whs^ This is only $4.99 or free if jailbroken. If you have an iPhone they have an app called Tuner Internet Radio, it has 1000's of commercial free internet radio broadcasts. Sound quality is the same as the radio if not better because I plug mine in through the AUX port and with a higher bit rate on some channels 128kb+ it is louder than radio.

You can bookmark your favorite stations or pick from the top 500. Search genre and other features.

Supports AAC+,MP3, PLS, M3U.

FWIW, iSimple sounded much louder/better when I added an aftermarket amp and upgraded my speakers. But what RemmyZero says is true, using iSimple is annoying on so many levels... when using Sat radio presets, there is a lag, real steering wheel controls are lacking, I still haven't figured out how to select playlists... would recommend against.

dohturdima - i would definitely believe that an aftermarket amp would work wonders, which is why i think the parrot system sounds so good for ipod since it has it's own amp built in.

rdeol - perhaps this is a stupid question but have you just considered getting the sirius/xm app for your iphone and buying the internet only subscription? you would then be able to stream it through your aux jack. i was using the android xm app in a rental car a few months ago and just plugging into the little headphone jack they had in it and it worked quite well for me. just a thought....obviously the downside being that you don't get every channel and you can't use the stock steering wheel controls.

Remmy, could you do me a favor and take a picture of the center console screen using SATRAD and displaying climate control at the same time? What does that information look like?

Right now I've got an iPod touch hooked up through AUX and I'm streaming XM Radio through it. Changing channels is a pain and seeing what's playing is a Hasslehoff. Now, I never use FM but the other day I forgot to bring the iPod and I saw how the center console display shows the current song playing using the FM RDS information. It looked pretty awful to me.

I don't know that I would be willing to pay the $400 to install the OEM kit if the display isn't much better than what I have right now for free.

i just happen to have a photo on my phone to show you....the RDS info is in that tiny little box which FYI the USAspec ipod adapter uses the RDS box which sucks because im blind and can barely read that. the iSimple uses nice big text which rocks. and not for anything but i would bet you can find an oem kit for less than $400....

this pic just happened to be on my phone because ill snap pics of the songs i like when i hear them so i can get them later. if you need a better picture let me know. to the left it will say "XM" and the station number and the title of the station in the RDS section.

here ya go!

Sweet, thanks!

So the only place I've been able to find the OEM kit is here: http://www.g35parts.com/G35-Sedan-Fa...-p/xmkithp.htm

After shipping and customs duties to Canada it'll get up to $400. Any idea of other sources I could get it from?

you can try here:

http://www.nissaninfinitiparts.com/s...product=295048

but i don't know anything about these guys so just search around first. even if it saves you 50-100 bucks it's worth it. also try amazon, ebay, just google it and see what happens.

Thanks for the replies guys.
I think I will be going with the OEM one.

Remmy the reason I don't want to subscribe on my phone is that I often change my phones and it just seems more of a hassle.

Man, as silly as it sounds, I never tried checking eBay or Amazon.
