Kicker 12" sub install using factory BOSE head unit

I'm putting a sub in my 2007 G35s. I'll keep updating with pictures as the build progresses. Wish me luck!

I chose this equipment because once you start exceeding 500 watts you start stressing your factory alternator, needing better battery, rattling stuff apart, etc... So I think this will be a good compromise between a lot of bass and keeping my car in good condition.

Equipment:
- Audiocontrol LC2i
- Kicker CVR 12" dual 4 ohm VCs
- Kicker zx400.1 (482 watts rms)
- Kicker 4 ga. amp kit
- Custom ported box

OEM Integration/Bass Restoration/Line Out/Pre Amp Device

I'll read up on other install threads for advice, but if anyone has advice on running wires, etc. please feel free to offer it. I'm especially interested in the ignition cluster wire colors where I would probably get my remote turn on. If anyone has any more convenient places to tap in for a remote turn on, please let me know!!!

After the install, you MAY find that your bass is overwhelming.

I had that issue when I tapped into the factory setup with a MTX Jackhammer amp and an Alpine Type-R 12".

Good luck...

If by chance you decide to stay on the Bose headunit, and are gonna upgrade the remaining speakers & amp, you may need a summing box ( takes the high level inputs and drops them to low level, allowing more control from the amps ). If you need one, let me know, I bought one when I was gonna do that, but ended up upgrading the whole system instead.

I have a Kicker ZXSUM8 that is brand new.

I'm super happy with the highs and the mids from the BOSE system. I'm a bass head and i've usually been pushing a solid 140-146 dBs at all times in my past vehicles (sometimes 2 15's at full tilt). I just hope with the kicker amp's bass **** and this sound processor that I can tone the bass down so it sounds musical and not sloppy. I'm pretty sure it'll sound amazing.

Can somebody please help me with the remote turn on wire???? I tested all of the wires on the BOSE amp and the only ones that acted as turn on wires were 5.8V........ All of the wires people recommended on other posts were not 12V with the radio on... I have a 2007 g35s w/BOSE & Nav

It would probably still trigger the amp to turn on, not going to hurt to try. I'm not actually sure how many mA a relay trigger for an amp pulls, maybe you can check and see. I dont think you are going to interfere with any of the stock bose wiring.

If you are needing a remote turn on wire and having no luck then you can go for an ignition wire. The ignition wire will always be one when you turn your ignition. Whether the radio is on or not your amp will be one, that does not hurt anything since you are not pushing a signal through hence barely using any power. I would try to see if you can use the 5v as a trigger to a relay and just power the relay off the wire from the battery to amp. The box you listed is PORTED meaning it will use more space. Are you fine with loosing all that trunk space and added weight for a single 12".

Okay, I got it all figured out. Finding a good remote wire took me a few hours, but I got it. I'll write up a really good how-to with pics and a guide to building a custom box as soon as I finish up the amp rack this weekend. None of the write-ups on this site directly applied to my bose amp and harnesses and stuff.
