Omg that's perfect!! They just put new ones in my apt complex and I'm always afraid of hitting it..

 

Maybe in America you don't need it, but here in Europe we've got really tight parking situations sometimes! And I hate to walk outside of my car several times to check how much place is left in the front of my lip or other cars could scratch my rear bumper leaving that parking...

I wouldn't mind having a camera up front but I'm having a hard time seeing how it helps get into a tight parking spot. At least for parallel (sp) parking, your ability to get into the spot depends on how good you are at swinging your car in at a good angle. Once you're in the position that you are worried about distance between your bumper and the one in front or behind you, the hard work is already done.

Am I completely missing it here? Is the camera angle wide and accurate enough that you can guage your corner distances??

 

camera in the front is for you to see if traffic from left and right before pulling out of say a drive way, if u cant see cars coming. in the first pix with a split view u can see a red car and in the windshield u can see the red car behind the bushes.

 

I think the split-view pic and the camera mounted pic aren't meant for each other. I've seen these before, and if I recall correctly the split view had a trick camera that extended out from the nissan logo.
The pic of the one mounted under the license plate you can see points straight forward, so theres no way that can give a split view.

 

LOL the original JDM cameras were actually mounted on the mirrors IIRC. But this guy just took the liberty to mount them on the front bumper instead.... I think there was another thread about this that wanted to put the JDM mirrors on his G37 and was wondering if it would integrate with his Navi like these did.

 

JDM V36 G35/G37 cars had two options: cameras in the mirrors (that would give you splitted view) and front-mounted camera. switching between these three cameras would give you 100% front view of any obstacles.

For now, it is only a beginning of this project - I mounted my camera in the Infiniti logo, but not very happy of it.

I plan to put the camera under the license bracket (like on pic) so I would see my lip more clearly. If it will be not enough, I plan to install two cameras into the bumper where usually manufacturers place fog lights (and then make split-screen from them).

I've been thinking of doing a similar set up. 1 front camera mounted near the license plate and 1 rear viev camera.

If you have a lowered car you totally understand why Harp00n or anyone would do this. Not hitting those concrete blocks / crubs when you pull into a parking spot is the only thing on your mind. Since I lowered my car I park at least 2 feet further back then I did before, or I have my wife hop out and tell me how far up I can go lol.
