Im not really the tire expert so im just making assumptions here. Obviosly as you all know, the g35s comes with summer tires and 18 inch wheels. Which are 225 up front and 245 in the rear. The new rims i purchased with tires happened to come with all seasons on them. My question is, though i know a summer tire will grip better then an all season (when the weather permits), will i still sacrafice handeling with this tires because of the larger size and width? Im assuming that because i am now running 245's up front and 275's in the rear and the wheels are now 20's instead of 18's that it will make up for the grip diference between an all season and a summer tire. Also how big is the handeling difference between a summer and all season tire if all things were equal such as size and width etc. BTW the new tires I have are kumho ectas spt's. The price was rite so i had to take wheel/tire package.

On a side not though, today in brooklyn ny the rain was insane and while traveling on the belt parkway the car felt much safer with the all seasons then the summers. I know a wider tire in such situations such as heavy puddles and rain is usually worse, but the all season treads def made the car feel MUCH more confident through this.

EDIT....well i be damned...they are not all seaons lol. i just googled em.. Anyone know anything about these tires anyway, they seem to be great i love em.

 

There are so many different parameters that go into "grip" with tires.

In general, All Season tires do not perform nearly as well as a summer tire on dry and wet pavement. Don't buy them unless you forsee yourself putting your tires in snow/mud. Summer tires work excellently in the rain; maybe better than some all-seasons. On the opposite note, summer tires are very dangerous on snow/ice. It's nearly impossible to get moving from a stop with Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3's in the snow.

I live in the south, and I don't even know what snow looks like. I run on summer tires all year round. I find it hysterical that the tire places around here advertise all-season tires to be the premier tire for cars. I guess it's the same reason that their markup on performance tires is 3x the markup on normal tires...there is no reason.

 

Your handling should improve with the wider tires. Trey has those tires and he likes them a lot. I think you'll be happy with them.
